My point, and there is no 'triggering' - is that you've defined no deal thanks to the UK not handing over sovereign control of our waters as solely being an indicator that the UK haven't been negotiating in good faith to achieve a deal.

Somewhat biased...
No bias. Simply positing a possibility and open to the possibility I’m wrong.

Really hard to have a good faith discussion in this thread it seems.

Ah well. Que sera sera.

If interested in being balanced and good faith, then recognising the potential for both sides to have acted in bad faith is worthwhile - as is actually reading responses to your posts without the lens of believing the person disagreeing with you is triggered...

They do a pint and Fish special on Fridays.

I'm playing it safe and doing Paella today.....with both chicken and fish.
Hmm, a pint of pinot grigio blush and a Paella is appealing. Very continental too.

Based on the noise coming from some of the EU 27 it's clear there has been no shift in their position from last week, despite Barniers assurances that both sides should compromise, it seems some countries see it differently and it's only the UK that needs to compromise capitulate.

If things continue as it looks like they will, it's hard to see how a deal will be arrived at.
I've assumed, right from the start, that there will be No Deal.

Not saying you're wrong but what noises have you heard to suggest there will be no movement from the EU?

If Barnier had arrived in London with nothing new to say - and was just reiterating the EU's previously stated position - I'd have thought Frost would have politely shown him the door by now. I think the EU know a deal is in their interests as well as ours and I suspect the penny's now dropped that to get it will require compromise from both sides; I'd therefore be surprised if Barnier has come just to repeat the same old lines....

Apparently Johnson had asked for uk residents to still be allowed to use eu fast track lanes after brexit

Hardly a surprise - they're not "EU fast track lanes" - they're common standard epassport lanes.

Did you even read the article?

UK already allow Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the US, Singapore and South Korea to use the e-passport gates in the UK.

The EU only allow EU/EEA/CH passports to use e-gates.

UK said it would guarantee allowing EU/EEA passports to continue using e-passports after Brexit if the EU would reciprocate.

EU said no.

So UK will force EU/EEA passports through the manual checks queue.

You think this make the UK look bad?

To anyone else it seems like the EU are acting like children.

I was given some minor heckling on this thread for implying that pre and post EU membership travel would have some noticeable differences.

TBH, I agree with the hecklers that it's an easily solvable problem. But it's not an automatic gimme.

Apparently us frequent flyer cognoscenti will notice the differences but the average beered up tourist on their way to Benidorm won't so all's ok.

I'm not sure if people are being deliberately dense but the EU and UK can make whatever reciprocal agreement they want on e-gates

True, it is pretty much arbitrary. Like a line in a post office or bank.

Last few times I've travelled the "RoW" lanes have been quietest.

Regardless, if there's no reciprocal arrangement available then big deal.

Everyone knew what they were voting for, and that includes joining the long "RoW" queue to enter the EU. It's a small price to pay to take back control of our fish. Am I doing this right?
