Thanks for the support, gents (and ladies - I'm not sure who is what on here) - it is appreciated.

This thread and the reasoned logic in it is about the only thing keeping me sane, and I've just about feeling like I've been keeping my head above water mentally.

Being told we've got to again be imprisoned if we're not working or shopping, and that apparently whole towns are going to be forcibly tested and removed against their will 'helped to self isolate' by the armed forces feels all a bit too much.

I presume this is where Schedule 21 gets rolled out and our 'freedom pass' / 'Health Passports' are 'awarded', but I cannot quite believe this can legally be happening.

I'm not feeling at risk of doing something silly (yet...) but I am wondering what's the point of everything right now. I didn't vote to live in a Martial Law / Police State / Surveillance society and I am utterly against such an invasion of our personal lives - and that's without considering the potential for DNA harvesting that my Tin Foil hat says could be happening by stealth.
Stay strong and focused on your family.

I am MD of a 23 year old successful company in the events industry and that’s gone until I don’t know when, not even sure it will come back.

I have money in the bank but had to make 9 people redundant and hibernate everything. Regardless of having money to pay bills the mental torture I’ve been through over the last 7 months trying to help good staff who have worked for me for some time had sadly pushed me to the point of having to brake at the last second when an image of my son flashed through my head.... frown

I am still low, some days very, very I’m now a courier driving around earning 25% of what I used to (the money isn’t everything it’s contributing to society and being the bread winner that makes me get up each day).

We need to stay strong for each other and try and focus on the positives when we are able to.

I am using this forum as a way to keep sane in difficult times as well. As I have said, I truly feel for all those people who are being impacted by this madness. Whether that be financially, loosing their jobs, businesses etc., mentally, in their relationships, health wise, losing loved ones, the list is sadly endless.

We are being lied to by the government and they are manipulating the figures to cover their backsides and for other reasons of which i cannot understand.

We really do need to make a stand against this - not sure how but I will be joining in that is for sure - and this is from a 60 year old who has always conformed!

I think the elephant in the room should be addressed - we are overpopulated. Overpopulation is the cause of so many problems the world faces. Why not let nature's cull do it's job? We can all crack on and preserve our economy and futures too.

If I had a quid for every moron who said they believed in the 'Overpopulation' myth, I would be a rich man by now.

A 90-year-old who has been diligent with their finances and paid fully into the system or (not saying you) but plebs up and down the UK who have used their cocks before saving up good amounts of money before multiplying?

Of those whinging about economic times here, how many have a pre-saved amount of money for such a time? bonus points if you made offspring.
The last lockdown and this one will have no effect on me financially ( I'm fortunate and thankful) yet I find the whole thing thoroughly depressing given the huge collateral costs to it all, the divisiveness of the current situation and it's societal impact, the prospects for young people now and in the yrs ahead ( I have 3 young kids). We are putting the needs of the few in front of the needs of the many and that just ain't right. People die it's part of life, many never get the luxury of seeing their 80's or beyond. Has anyone asked the 90 yo what they think? Are they content to hide from the world for their remaining yrs having little contact with loved ones or do they want quality rather than quantity of life?
And that is where I am at too. My parents died at 62 and 68. I get really frustrated with those people who appear to think that we should all live for ever and we should save everybody.

I would rather have 70 years of a life well lived as opposed to 85 years with the last 15 being in a care home not knowing what day it is.

What is your point? Not being awkward, just don’t understand. Is the world not overpopulated then?

And no need to call people morons.

Well, good for you, I'm so fking pleased for you and your friends.

Some of us are unemployed, are down to their last few hundred quid and have a family to support, but are unable to just walk into even poorly-paid employment thanks to the total fk-up that is in progress.

But you crack on.

Sorry to hear this RSTurboPaul. I hope something turns up soon. I drive buses and a lot of companies are screaming out for drivers, might it be worth approaching your local operator and seeing if they have any jobs going?

If there is an elephant in the room... I hate to say this, but it's our kids.... they are the vectors/silent enemies... but no one has the balls to address this.

Interesting Twitter post - looks like Boris was bounced into today's announcement.

I presume they were late doing it because headless chickens were still running around behind the scenes.

It will be interesting to see if the additional day or so allows additional momentum against it to build - most comments on the Youtiube video of the announcement seem to be negative.

I am also using this thread as a way of keeping sane, my sympathy to all those who have been impacted in some way by the way this has been handled. I don't believe a word Boris or any of the others say either.

Maybe. Just my view based on what I have experienced with family members.

No idea what you’re on about but you are obviously an individual who has no empathy towards others.

Or a troll who is desperately seeking the attention they lack from their significant other.

Our finest hour, to our most pathetic.
Sad that we are going to spend remembrance Sunday with most freedoms removed.

A fairly basic view at best.
