Has he organised an armed insurrection yet? Or massive grifting operations to con his gullible supporters? 30k lies? How about destroying the American Democracy in order to feed a pathetic ego?

If not, seems that Biden should be trying harder...
Top whatabouting, well done.
Humans evaluate things on a comparative basis. But thanks.

Biden's approval ratings still on the slide .. another loss of .6% within a week,
What are the reasons common Americans can not see they've never had it so good?
The slide continues

it's no surprise is it, considering that the whole world is feeling the pain of Russian behaviour?
I've made the point in this thread before about the general inability of people of a certain political persuasion to see past headline figures and look at context. Don't want to end up repeating myself but an approval rating of 39.7% is still higher than lowest approval ratings achieved by 8 of the 14 post war presidents.

It's interesting reading comments about the situation. Many Americans seem to hold Biden personally responsible for such issues as high inflation and gas prices when those issues are demonstrably occurring worldwide and clearly (and surely somewhat obviously?) happening as we emerge from a global pandemic, plus the Russia-Ukraine situation. This demonstrates a worrying lack of knowledge and education, but either way, as we can see the ratings are very low. It's worrying, considering the alternative to the Democrats appears to be a collection of some of the most amoral people in the entire nation, many/most of whom are still supporting their disgraced former leader who tried to take down the country at the most fundamental level.

I've almost given up on America, a place for which for so long I've had such affection, admiration, and respect. It breaks my heart to see how far it has fallen in the last few years. I'm at the point of reluctantly accepting that if they reelect trump, or someone similarly odious next time around, then they've simply got what they deserve. To do it once might be considered a terrible misjudgment. Twice, well, no excuse.

Some at or around this point, some earlier, some later. The "point in presidency" metric is pretty meaningless IMO as it's not like every presidency trends remotely the same way- totally ignorant of external factors.

Quoted for posterity. Deluded arrogance is certainly a Trump thing (along with lies, greed, crime etc).

There's every possibility the queen is right on this one. Celebrating as the USA sleepwalks into a potential Handmaid's Tale dictatorship.

I agree, but making strong political predictions is a mugs game IMO.

Indeed.

But cqueen and his other iterations have a habit of being wrong. Repeatedly.

1. There's only one me.
2. I don't believe I've made any other predictions?

Did you predict trump would win the 2020 election?

I did think he would win, but I dunno if I put it on here. No doubt one of your lot will spend a good 15mins of your life going through my history though biggrin

Ah, posters with similar sound names claim to know nothing of other posters with similar-sounding names.

How are your exams going?

Jeez Paul, get a grip.

Let’s be really honest though, it doesn’t matter who sits at the big table on Pensilvania Avenue, the real power lies behind the throne. Always has been. Always will be.

I did think it was a bit hyperbolic when I read it back but thought I'd got away with it. smile

Nonetheless, recent events have shown us the USA is in a bad place and at a significant juncture. Backroom abortions and attempts to end the democratic process are genuinely not impossible nightmare scenarios.

Caught yer hehe

Seriously though, even though we sit at opposite ends of the table in many respects, I broadly agree with you on your above point.

Looking from the outside-in, (and I’m by no means an expert), the USA does seem deeply fractured. Probably more so than it’s ever been.

Speaking to mates over there, many of whom are blue collar and from rural or Midwest areas, they have total disconnect with what’s happening in DC and large metropolitan areas.

I’ll assume that we’re a not too dissimilar age, so could we see the break-up of the Union in our lifetimes, irrespective of whether a true moderate, (I’m thinking Obama?), a MAGA, (Trump / De Santis), or an AOC wins the Presidency????

I wouldn’t bet against it. At which point it’s chaos for all of us, even at this side of The Pond IMO.
