How many have been vaccinated so far?
Discussion
7 days in and we should be really going for it.
We knew (were told) the vaccine was coming, have we mobilised all our resources to really ramp up the mass programme.
From day 1 we should’ve been fully set up as we’ve had the time and have the people to do it.
Are there any official numbers to date or projections going forward?

I am also very interested in this. I suspect due to the lack of any numbers, or the government generally shouting about it we are maybe in the low tens of thousands range? A colleague did say her inlaws are booked in for it next week.
If the government's handling of this so far is anything to go by I think we will be in for a long wait.

Top scientists have stated best case scenario it would be at least a year to vaccinate the population. If the government's handling of this so far is anything to go by I think we will be in for a long wait.

The wife's grandad is getting the vaccine tomorrow I think.
So we have at least 1 person for the graph, along with the 2 we know about. If it's just these 3 that have been offered it, and have taken it, that currently makes it 100% uptake.
But we are way ahead of the EU. So we have at least 1 person for the graph, along with the 2 we know about. If it's just these 3 that have been offered it, and have taken it, that currently makes it 100% uptake.

Given the governments handling over this situation and every other large scale project. It’ll be years before it’s complete and the costs to achieve it will triple, with half of their mates down the local filling their pockets with fat stacks of cash.
The sheer incompetence displayed by the government and their advisers is huge.

Heh! Thought I recognised that name. Trivia: Kate Pickles was my sisters mate at school (her older sister was my first schoolboy crush when I was about 7, I used to buy her sweets!), as were the Derbyshire sisters (as in Victoria).Evolved said:

Luckily the NHS is running the vaccination program then. The sheer incompetence displayed by the government and their advisers is huge.
It’ll be like all the other vaccinations, Flu,MMR, whatever they give the babies etc.

A really good start to the vaccination program. It’s been 7 days and we have done:
England:108,000
Wales: 7,897
Northern Ireland: 4,000.
Scotland:18,000
U.K Total 137,897.
That number will increase as we have operationalised hundreds of PCN (primary care networks)

In reality we don't need to vaccinate the whole population to return to normal.
Once NHS and care home staff have been vaccinated, along with the over seventies, then this will probably be less dangerous than seasonal flu.
Whether we do go back to normal at that point is another matter entirely of course!.

The NHS are pretty good at rolling out vaccines. 137k is a reasonable start. The sheer incompetence displayed by the government and their advisers is huge.

It's far slower a rate than people are naturally aquiring herd immunity. https://twitter.com/GuidoFawkes/status/13391475757...
That's about 12,500 per day in England.
A country with about 65,000 GPs and 500,000 nurses. At this rate it will take until mid February to get through the initial 800,000 doses.

I wouldn't take the current daily rate as the forecast average rate. That's about 12,500 per day in England.
