I was pretty impressed.
I know some disagree (I've seen plenty of 'celebs' get abuse for 'jumping the queue due to their fame' when posting that they been jabbed online) but it's great that this is allowed to happen if a specific surgery is well on top of it.

No red tape, no having to arrange moving the vaccine elsewhere, just crack on and use what you've got to get as many vaccinated as you can.

Similar with leftover stocks at the end of the day, no 10 page priority document to try and follow with inevitable loss of vaccine, no policy to stop those hanging around getting a jab at the end of the day, just do it, use them up as best you can.

It's remarkably refreshing and the small price to pay is 56 year old Janet getting angry on Twitter that 49 year old Derek had his jab first.
I agree for the most part, and a doctor on TV was noting things along similar lines as rationale for why prioritising teachers formally, for example, would unravel. Basically every group would be putting a case forwards and before too long the whole thing would get mired in more process than was healthy.

The one thing that I do find a bit off is that a couple of months ago supplies were being deprioritised in some areas as they were ahead of schedule.

Regardless, as long as this now applies consistently, it's all good IMO. The quicker we can rattle through everyone, the better.

I wonder how many people who say "I'm not having this untested vaccine injected into me, no way Pedro" change their mind the minute they get a letter with their jab appointment date on it ?

My parents have just got home from having their second jab. My mOther said it was well organized, quick, and very friendly. The nurse took a picture of them both afterward. I do not know if that is usual, but it is a great picture of them, despite the masks.
I feel a sense of relief now that they have had both jabs.
The past year has done my Father no good though. He had early-onset Alzheimer's diagnosed 3 years ago, but in the past year, without his social interaction, etc, he has gone downhill fast. It is such a cruel disease and seeing a once highly intelligent man literally losing his mind is painful. They are both 84, and my Mother has been on her own with him, refusing help from anyone, because she feels it is her duty to look after him herself because that is what she vowed over 64 years ago. On Skype calls, she appears to be up-beat and coping well, but there have been occasions where she has got emotional and let it slip how upset she is, as she thinks she has lost her husband. That too is painful.
Damn, I did not mean to say this much, and I apologize for going somewhat off-topic.

Based on what was going on before the weekend, it seems to depend on where you are, in some areas it will let you book even if you are under the specified age. Suggest keep trying.

Really good news that I had also missed (quoting TB from another thread that some of you may have not seen)

I'd missed this, about the first AZ dose, but appreciate it won't be news to everyone.

Old incorrect information.

Latest PHE study puts the AZ vaccine at 80% efficiency at stopping hospitalisations. Although the vaccine is too new to study properly.
There's more data on the Pfizer one as it was rolled out earlier.

I'd missed that too. However...
80% ... is that only more than 22 days after the first dose, or does it include cases at any time after the first dose? Some or many of which may have been transmitted prior to vaccination.

I've just tried it with my NHS number (it said no) so I tried the other option (name, post code etc), and it still said no.

But I will keep trying, it can't be far away now.

Well, yes and no. The 100% figure for AZ was correct, but of course that was for the vaccine trials and they were performed on people that were healthy and generally younger.

The 80% figure for AZ is for over-80s, data isn't there yet for those vaccinated later.
