I sold my home gym stuff as we got 2x peloton setups. Sold a rower, weights, bench, x trainer, bike. Got back 60% of what I paid for them 6 years ago and was staggered. Lots of people switching to home exercise.

Sold weights, taken up Cardio? You big girls blouse hehe If I see you after a few months I will say that to your face, as you will be a skinny weed by then.

Haha! But I had to - got minor arthritis and can’t do the weights any more frown

Also started dieting, lost 3 stone and don’t need to do so much exercise anyway as it was only about weight loss really.

20-30 mins 3/4 times a week on Peloton with some fit crazy American bird shouting at me is all I need now!

Let us know how you get on. I have had stationary bikes in the past but never used them enough, so curious as to whether the modern video features make it more addictive.

Peloton looks really expensive to me. I'm happier with my smart turbo trainer and Zwift - I have a 100" projector screen against the garage door and ceiling mounted projector.

Different markets. Zwift is a outdoor training replacement. Peloton is a Gym class substitute. Hence why it has a "crazy fit American Bird" shouting at Jake.

I had Peloton on a 75” telly in my gym.
You can get the app for £13 a month and just use a standard £300 spin bike.
Only thing missing is they can’t see you so you’re effectively watching a recording of the class but the interaction is limited anyway
This way I can chose from 1000’s of classes all different lengths, music styles etc
The bikes are well over £2k each for the Peloton ones

I gave my home gym stuff to my son in Sept last year as I wasnt using it, he took it up to scotland and put it in the double garage of his rental property then all this hit and he sold it all as they had to move.

I will go back to the gym once things calm down, we like the classes, the variety of equipment, the pool and its more sociable, plus lots of women in Lycra biggrin

Nobody in T2 and only the Scilly Isles T1 (no cases since Sept - why are they in any tier?)

We are all in T3 or 4.

Charity shops will be in trouble next, that’s how bad it’s going to be!

I'd love an exercise bike due to my arm break I can't ride off road for another few weeks and I can't ride on the road due to the soreness.

Where to start, what to buy exercise bike though? Its a minefield. Its been 4 weeks so far and I can feel my hard earned bike fitness slipping away

Charities have been in trouble for a while, particularly the local hospice organisations who rely on the charity shops and fund raising events. When they've been allowed to open, the shops tend to be manned by the older generation volunteers who are more vulnerable. All the fun runs, all the bake sales and community events have all been cancelled and it doesn't look like it's going to be getting better any soon.

The tragedy of this is that organisations like Cancer Research, BHF, plus others, rely on this funding - and their research is really valuable, plugging the gaps in government investment. Additionally, the rehabilitation services provided, particularly by the BHF, save countless lives each year - they stopped me from slipping into a deep depression as well as setting me on a road to physical well-being which means I'm almost back to the same risk as anyone else my age from dying of a heart related issue. I'd usually raise a grand or two myself each year to pay back their investment in me - but I've raised nothing this year. Not even been able to donate unwanted stuff to them to sell.

You have the following rough options based on when I was buying my gear a few years ago now

1) gym style exercise bike, upright or reclining, cost from £150 to £2k with ones from around £500+ feeling stable and robust. the big selling feature is some have a video console that can show you speed sensitive videos of alpine passes etc from about £800. The ones from about £1k are like ones in a smaller hotel gym, and the £1500 ones are like proper gym ones

2) peloton bike is £2k not worth it for short term rehab I’d say

3) turbo trainer, force sensing cranks, cadence sensor, zwift setup - you’re probably looking at maybe £700 and up, if you have a pic and bike already. You can also sell them on for decent cash if u don’t like it unlike the exercise bike in 1. They aim to simulate cycling.

4) what I did was a £300 spin bike and peloton app on my pc for £13 a month. Works for me but I wanted a gym spin class experience. Doesn’t sound like your thing but I found it a good way to get motivated in my own.

Turbo trainers can be quite cheap.

https://www.halfords.com/cycling/turbo-trainers/sm...

It may not win awards, but it's cheap enough... although I did also spend £150 on a projector and 100" screen, too. Gives me an hour of cycling in crappy weather / when my toes would drop off if I went out.

I'm going with Currys PC World as all my attempts at trying to order a washing machine through them are currently failing.

I think that's a good shout, I haven't used their stores for I think 8 years now, to put some time reference on it the last thing I bought from them was an Ipad 2 when they had just come out.

They cut all their other high street brands premises and moved them under the one roof to cut costs but surely there is no more cutting to be done and other suppliers do the online side better than they do.

I don't use them for a very PH reason. Stupid narrow access similar to how London restricts wide vehicles at my local store. I always pray for my alloys going through.

And deduct a point for the apostrophe in HGVs hehe

That's perhaps why the entrance is so narrow?
