What's the link to the original submission? Curious to see if it really is "live" as there seemed to be a lot of confusion about that yesterday afternoon.
The redactions can in no way be claimed to be for the purpose of avoiding "jigsaw identification"; shouldn't the Crown Office give reason why there have been further redactions?
With Salmond not giving evidence to the committee the narrative will immediately be NS and the SNP are "not guilty" and Salmond a sore ststirrer, the committee findings will have minor criticism of the government whilst maintaining an undercurrent of "Salmond got lucky in court" and I suspect the Hamilton inquiry will be quietly swept under the carpet.
Redaction seems to be aimed entirely at preventing NS from looking bad.... Quelle surpriseThe redactions can in no way be claimed to be for the purpose of avoiding "jigsaw identification"; shouldn't the Crown Office give reason why there have been further redactions?

As a slight diversion from the subterfuge and intrigue of the legal theatre currently unfolding....
On a more fundamental level can someone educate me as to the reason for the breakdown between Salmond and Sturgeon who before all of this seemed to be best of buddies with a common cause?
If it is indeed correct that NS has been instrumental in trying to stitch Big Al up what would be her motive for that?

Interesting read
Jackie Baillie seems to be the only member of the corrupt and ineffective inquiry with real teeth and determination. The SNP stooges are obviously supplicants, Mr Wightman is a chocolate fireguard, and the others just seem stymied by the SNP's continued obfuscation. It will be interesting to see if the Lord Advocate does appear before Holyrood - I won't hold my breath.

Now the lead story on the Mail. The key question is whether the Speccy, the Mail and the other press publishing the document have been asked to make the same redactions as the Parliament. If not, why not?
I think the concept of jigsaw identification urgently needs judicial clarification. Where it impedes the progress of other legal proceedings, is there an irrebuttable presumption that any trivial risk of identification trumps the rights of the parties to the other proceedings? That is, respectfully, a troubling thought.
The irony is that what has transpired here has cast a light on Scotland in a way which would have been avoided had COPFS simply sat on their hands.
It would appear the SNP are in some solvency difficulties... the author of this piece is alleging that the SNP have been infiltrated from top to bottom by agents of the British state - an idea that I find simultaneously plausible and hilarious. Could the Chief Mammy actually be a 00 agent, with a Licence to Shrill? 003.5 - the name's Krankie. Vodka Irn Bru, nae sugar, that's banned.

Treasurer Colin Beattie “suspended the Branch “dividend” due for April-June 2020″ because supposedly, the Party’s income was projected to be 25% down due to Covid lockdowns. They were also asking members to renew their annual subscriptions up to 2 months early supposedly because of those Covid-related problems. That is a lie on so many levels:
(a) the SNP’s major sources of income are members subs, donations and legacies. Annual Conference basically broke even in 2018 but lost money in 2019 due to a 110K blowout in audiovisual expenses, it’s disguised by showing the revenue and expenditure separately. Any reduction in SNP income is much more likely to have been from the large numbers of members quitting the Party and no longer paying subs or donating.
(b) the SNP owed 357K to Trade Creditors payable more or less immediately yet had only 97K in the bank. Funding that 260K shortfall plus paying their bloated payroll out of whatever members subs came in during first quarter 2020 meant that there was no money in the bank to pay branches
(c) the branch “dividend” is actually the Branches’ 25% share of members subs and not for April-May 2020 but for the same period in 2019. They’re robbing Peter to pay Paul and with rapidly declining membership subscriptions they’re heading for the cliff. these dividends are not now being paid out, even a YEAR in arrears.
(d) Asking members to pay subs early is another example of robbing Peter to pay Paul. It may help them out this month but creates a shortfall in the following months, and a shortfall in 2021’s income if they continued to encourage early renewal into the 4th Quarter of 2020.
At this rate it will be interesting if the party can make it to May elections in a solvent position - an election campaign typically isn't cheap, last time out they burned their way through £1.5m, and this time they have less than £100k of cash available to call upon, with creditors stacking up to rinse them. May the impending downfall be spectacular and memorable.(a) the SNP’s major sources of income are members subs, donations and legacies. Mr Salmond has instructed his lawyers to request specifically that the Crown preserve and retain all material and
communications with all or any third parties which led to their decision to intervene at the very last minute just as
he was set to give his evidence.
Oh dear, Ms Sturgeon really should be quaking in her boots because this fiasco is not going away, the hole she
is digging just goes down down deeper and down, Sturgeon is taking the people of Scotland for utter clowns,
well the clowns are going to have the last laugh Nicola I can assure you of that.
And thanks for the latest own goal of an extraordinary outburst against Salmond on your daily PPB, you
will pay for these lies and corruption eventually, you have disgraced Scotland.
