Is anyone suprised Sturgeon has actually followed Boris and delayed for 4 weeks as well and not come up with some hodgepodge of a scheme to get one up on him or are we going to get some sort of level 1.5 as she grasps to control us all for a few more weeks when she mskes yet another announcement next week?
Boris has played a lovely bluff, Sturgeon is renowned for her Scottish caution in not making rash
decisions and following the science, here we have Boris being ultra cautious and wee Mammy
hasn't the balls [ contrary to rumour ] to do anything other than follow England's lead, that must hurt her ego.

AIUI, Boris has delayed getting rid of all England restrictions by a few weeks. Sturgeon has delayed lowering Scotland restrictions to level 0, which is still restrictive - see https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covi....

She’s wanting these restrictions in law until next year.

Very different.

As a comprehender of German (and speaker after 5 steins) I love the relationship between Scots and German. Often just the odd word here or there shared but cool to compare.

Correct. A clever piece of pyschology starting restrictions at level zero. Nobody in the media is saying level zero is not normal. Zero means, for example. No more than 15 adults to meet outdoors. They have to keep 2M apart.

The times when I would be in a group bigger than 15 are few and far between but that is not the point. The govt needs overwhelming necessity to justify restricting freedom and telling us who we can and can not meet. We are well past that point now.

Level 0 = still only seated drinking and table service in pubs. Nowhere near normal. Has she ever said when levelNormal will be countenanced?

Possibly even more so with the clear overlap of Scots and the Norse tongues, to a Scot and moderately fluent Norwegian speaker .
Lots of the same or related words. Kirke/ Kirk, barn/bairn, fjord/firth and many more.
Even the dialect spoken in the northern isles is comprehensible (just about) by a modern Norwegian speaker, and there are place names where I live that are 100% Norse despite their spurious, Janet and John faux-Gaelic renderings on the road signs.

What’s the best outcome on Friday Eng v Scotland for both to progress to the next stage? I’m guessing a Scottish win as a loss will mean they are out a draw will mean a must win on the last game and hope other results and goal difference go their way.

best result would be scotland win, while czech v croatia is a draw. But this would then complicate the final games, czech would be on 4 points, england 3, scotland 3, croatia 1 point. This would mean both scotland and england both need wins to guarantee going through, draws get complicated with goal difference and then add the even more complicated ‘best 3rd place team’ (which won’t be decided until the day after our final game)

but as you say, if england win, it’s a must win against croatia in the final game and pray other results go our way……

I think if Czechs beat Croatia, we can beat Croatia and finish third ahead of them(?) But aye, let’s keep it simple and just beat them both biggrin

yes, because the euros use ‘head to head’ results then ‘goal difference’ if the result was a draw! but then we are relying on other group results to secure best loser spots.

But you know what, i’d take the route and still convince myself we’ll win the euros!!! 😂

When it comes to competition and Scotland - it is always - "We can qualify if Team X lose and Team Y draw and we win"
It is never ever in our own destiny, we always are dependent on others failing.

Its Scotlands party trick. So near yet so far.
If we beat England I bet we go out on goal difference.

Yeah until 5 minutes in.

I will guess 4 nil England.

And I am a Scot.

Wrong.
0-0 until 10 minutes until full time.
Then 4 - nil England.
Scotland has form on falling apart after the 80th minute.

The logical reasoning and arithmetic required to figure out whether we might qualify is the only hope left for Mathematics in Scotland.

It’s peculiar how many are good with quarters, eighths and sixteenths too scratchchin

PS these are not anti Scottish jibes, they are satirical commentary on the state of our education and drug deaths under the SNP “leadership”.
