Not so sure.

I suspect there will be many SNP and pro-indy supporters (not necessarily the same thing anymore) mighty displeased at this formal Green alliance. It is a big shining confirmation of what they already suspect - that for Nicola it is more to do with keeping power and less to do with achieving independence, because this is a distraction tactic. Scottish Green Party policy is full-on whacko, Patrick Harvey is an angry wee man with no charisma, and Lorna Slater interviews as a complete nut-job.

The Sunday Times is on a roll today. Michael Glackin telling how Kate Forbes didn't know the rate the UK borrows at (0.03%) or the emerging markets rate which is the best Scotland could hope for (3.5%).

A bit of back of envelope calculations. Post indy running a £10Bn a year deficit for 5 years.
£50Bn funded at say 4%. is £2Bn per year interest alone.

Say 2 million households in Scotland. That's £1000 per household. On top Of financing a share of current UK debt.

Alternatively they cut services, which means more unemployment, raise taxes, or both.

Meanwhile in the interval between a yes vote and independence many businesses and taxpayers would cut and run. Those left would be trading over a border with the extra costs involved.

There's a stage of ignorance at which you don't know enough to realise how little you know. She's there.

You are lucky to have that service. Edinburgh to Glasgow trains don't run on Sunday, and haven't for months. I gather this is the case for most services in Scotland. Unfortunately this industrial action is a result of ScotRail staff working to rule, so it isn't a strike as much as they are working to the letter of their contracts regarding Sunday working. There doesn't appear to be any rush to solve this issue for whatever reason.

We have a new ScotRail timetable to look forward to next year, combined with fare hikes. I'm sure the new SNP/Green behemoth are all about reducing private car ownership, even while public transport becomes less and less desirable. Saying that, driving in Edinburgh is a mess of 20 mph zones, pedestrian and cycle lanes cordoned off with metal poles, byzantine one way systems, bus lanes etc. I counted a fair few of those traffic survey hoses running over the road in Edinburgh as well. All of this points to the council trying to make driving in Edinburgh as undesirable as possible, or is that giving them too much credit?

Most of them don't. Hence the Black Hole of Calcutta conditions. There is a once an hour Edinburgh to Glasgow service on Sundays though.

Surprised nobody has commented on the enjoyment you expressed about that photo whistle

Just when you think nationalists can't get any more ridiculous, a columnist for the Edinburgh Evening news throws away a jar of Baxters chutney and vows to never buy from them again. Why? because they didn't support independence and have appointed Ruth Davidson as a Director. Just ignore the fact they are a Scottish Company employing Scottish people. I can't believe this rubbish is published.

Her husband, who supposedly manages the properties, all in her name of course, was appointed a director of Douglas Community Ecoheat Ltd on the 18th August 2021. His occupation is given as district councillor. So presumably he too is allowed to claim 'expenses'. He won an Award as New Councillor of the Year in Scotland 2020.

According to her Wiki page she made a complaint to the Independent Press Standards Organisation about this article in 2016. The complaint was not upheld. She made a further complaint in 2018. It was ignored.

And here in lies the solution, you see people like this will not see past their blinkered viewpoint

But snp voters working at baxters will begin to doubt and worry, management of Baxter's chatting at conferences. And so it spreads...pun intended.

“ They export around the world but I hope Brexit brings them a loss.”

What a spiteful anti-English individual Helen is. Hoping a Scottish company , based in Scotland, employing Scots , fails.

Sums up nationalism to a tee though doesn't it, vile hatred for anything and anyone who doesn't agree with their agenda.

A facebook linked post was the same. Locals saying they will never buy baxters again. So you would put local friends and family out of a job. The SNP loonies will cut their nose off to spite their face.

What I don’t get is how a local paper thinks that it’s a good idea to print something (albeit an opinion piece) that only speaks to half of the likely readership, and which reads like a lunatic howling at the moon for the other half.
