Seen the latest nutter conspiracy. Biden controls the weather and deliberately punished Texas...

According to Scott L. Biddle in a post from this Saturday, “weather manipulation and controlling the Jetstream has been going on for years.” He then cited a comment from Biden during the final presidential debate where he said that a “dark winter” was coming due to what he said was the former Trump administration’s lack of plan to combat the coronavirus pandemic. But according to Biddle’s post, Biden was actually referring to something more sinister.

“Joe Biden’s ‘Dark Winter’ statement was not a random thought, it was a foreshadow of what was to come,” Biddle wrote. “Texas is the only state to have its own, entirely independent electric grid separate from the rest of the United States. This is warfare, an attack on Texas by altering the Jetstream, seeding the clouds, and ultimately causing the storm that blacked out over 4 million people. Sound crazy? Too hard to believe? Believe it.”

“If Texas is on an independent power grid system, how did it fail?” the post continued. “Every system has a flaw, A lot of Texas runs on wind turbines and solar power. All the wind turbines are frozen to a stop, all the solar panels are covered with ice and snow, Texas’s flaw is cold weather – their biggest weakness is being used against them.”

Yeah, the first thing Biden did was force the massively-Republican state of Texas to remove all the lagging from its gas pipes rolleyes

It really does beggar belief that people actually believe this scensoredt.

The Law doesn't apply to Donny. He respects no one & nothing. He won't pay any attention to this ruling. He'll find some way to drag it out, stall, delay, hide, "misplace" or just blatantly destroy any & all relevant Documents.

I dearly, dearly, dearly want to be wrong.

I don't think he has any choice now. The USA's highest court has confirmed the subpoena is OK, he can't appeal any more (was very unappealing beforesmile) so NY gets the documents. His accountant has to hand them over (they were fine doing it anyway,it was Donny who stuck his oar in)
I imagine the IRS had them anyway so can legally pass them to the AG for use

The (self inflicted) punches keep coming for Cruz, remember he blamed his 10 & 12 year old daughters for the Mexico trip, then said he was going to come back the next day, then admitted it was all lies ? Now it turns out that he invited his old college buddy along: https://theweek.com/speedreads/968199/ted-cruz-inv...

Supreme Court have been busy today, the second ruling today is that they will not hear cases presented by Republicans that challenge voting rules: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-2020-el...

Basically some states changed the voting rules last summer to help with voting during the pandemic, their processes were followed, but now Republicans lost they wanted to get the SC to declare the rules illegal.

Dominion have filed paperwork to sue Mike Lindell as they promised a week or two ago https://www.theguardian.com/law/2021/feb/22/domini...

Donny is going to tell CPAC that he is the presumptive 2024 Presidential Candidate https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/22/tr...

The state of Michigan and the city of Detroit have asked a federal judge to sanction attorneys who filed lawsuits that falsely alleged the November presidential vote was fraudulent, the first of several similar efforts expected around the country.

An Atlanta-area prosecutor has launched a criminal investigation into whether pressure that President Donald Trump and his allies put on state officials amounted to an illegal scheme to overturn the results of the election.

Donald Trump reported making more than $1.6 billion in outside revenue and income during his four years as President of the United States, according to a review of his financial disclosures by CREW. While Trump publicly took credit for donating his taxpayer-funded salary, that ended up being less than 0.1% of the revenue and income he disclosed during his presidency. Far from being a sacrifice, the donation was merely a fig leaf to cover up four years of brazen corruption.

Texans just got a taste of where a real free market economy takes you.

No fall back plan, nil infrastructure investment and nil oversight or control when the opportunity to price gouge comes along.

Any suggestion that some controls and investment might have been useful will be met with howls of "command economy" and "cuz Marxist".

Not sure how this can be possible, but maybe I'll stop complaining about my wife having the heating too high and us getting a £100 a month gas bill!

Variable-rate billing, where you pay according to wholesale pricing. If you're used to cheap electricity and use it for primary heat... frown

Vox said:
That freezing weather led to rolling blackouts throughout the state amid an increased demand for power; in turn, that demand caused prices to spike, with wholesale rates soaring to about $8,800 per megawatt-hour in the Dallas area on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, the wholesale rate before this week’s storm was only about $50 per megawatt-hour. On Wednesday, Texas’s Public Utility Commission moved to cap wholesale prices at $9,000 per megawatt-hour, or $9 per kilowatt-hour.

Supply and demand.
If supply is tiny but demand is huge then you can put your prices up (spectacularly in this case).
Same reason Ferrari, etc can charge a fortune for their cars compared to something like a Fiesta.

Part of the problem is that Texas (with the exception of El Paso) is outside of the wider grid. So, it cannot buy in or hedge against the wider wholesale market. Part of the reason for the pricing, apart from making $$$ while the snow fell, was to limit demand, because it was very close to a full shutdown, such was the inability to meet demand.
