The records include financial statements, working papers, engagement letters, preparation and review papers, financial statements cover past financial positions as well as current valuations. The property taxes are supposed to cover past valuations. Loan agreements may cover past and current situations, and address future expectations.

We know from Cohens testimony that trump massively deflated the values for tax purposes, then massively increased values to get loans against them. Remember this is what Mannafort was sent to jail for, had to forfeit $42m etc. We also know from Cohen that trump committed insurance fraud at least twice, we know trump has a sealed indictment for campaign fraud, illegal payments as individual #1, that Cohen was convicted for.

Insurance fraud, tax fraud, income tax fraud, unwarranted accelerated tax write-offs, corporate liability and personal liability, not to mention the loans being called in, banks refusing to do business.... it's all starting to look worrying for the trumps.
given his pre presidential life presented plenty of opportunity to jail him for all sorts, what has changed now that will see him get the time he deserves ? money and privilege seems to be a get out of jail free card for a select sector of the american population.

The biggest difference may be the size of what he's been doing.
In addition he's really managed to shine a light/draw attention to his methods and put himself front and centre.

I still can't understand how inflating the property values would help him get a loan as the lenders should commission their own valuation (at the client's expense of course).
That's how it has worked in EVERY property transaction I've seen over the years.
If they took Trump's word for it on properties worth $10Ms then they deserve not to get repaid imo.

Before he was POTUS he was just another POS businessman dealing with other business people who may or not have had the means to do anything about him.

NOW he's managed to upset a lot of very important, very powerful people who most definitely DO have the means to come after him.

Yeah that's fair enough but for balance and proportionately how much do you think it cost all those cities on fire when the BLM opportunists all took to the streets, burning, looting and wrecking everything they could put their hands on.

Not saying two wrongs make a right but, it's a bit delusional to do the Republicans bad Democrats good narrative, and I'm seeing very little of anyone condemning the Democratic cities issues or the fact that very little seemed to be done by the Democrat governors to stop it.
This is a great example of genuine confusion.

The person who gave him the loans, just happened to have a daddy who was a supreme court judge who suddenly retired to make space for Kavenaugh

trumps pardon means Mannafort doesn't have to forfeit his assets.

U.S. prosecutors are no longer seeking to seize a Hamptons mansion and two New York City properties from Paul Manafort following his pardon by former President Donald Trump.

Prosecutors said Friday they will dismiss a 2019 preliminary forfeiture order entered against Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, after he was sentenced to 7½ years in prison for financial crimes and conspiracy.

In a court filing, they said Trump’s Dec. 23 pardon of Manafort meant the U.S. will no longer seek Manafort’s sprawling house in Water Mill, New York, his brownstone in Brooklyn, or his apartment on the edge of Manhattan’s Chinatown.

“These three real properties will not be under restraint in connection with the prosecution and conviction” of Manafort, according to the filing. The pardon has relieved Manafort of “any further obligation to make payments to satisfy the $11 million monetary judgment of forfeiture,” according to the filing.

The order does not apply to other Manafort assets that were already forfeited and sold, including an apartment in Trump Tower in Manhattan, a bank account and a life insurance policy.

Manafort may still have to fight with his creditors before recovering the properties.

One creditor is a Nevada company called Woodlawn LLC, which lent Manafort’s family $1 million in August 2017, just weeks after the FBI raided his home, and secured its loan with a claim on the Chinatown apartment. Woodlawn, backed by southern California businessman Ari Zieger, has been seeking to collect on its loan since at least 2019, as detailed in a series of Bloomberg News stories. A lawyer for Woodlawn didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment.

The FBI has identified a suspect it's focusing on in the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, according to law enforcement officials.

The theory, as CNN has reported, is that Sicknick became ill from bear spray used by the mob that attacked the Capitol on January 6, and video evidence CNN previously reported on appears to show the attack that could have caused his death.
It remains a difficult case for investigators and it's not clear what charge they will be able to bring.

In a statement late Friday, the US Capitol Police noted that the medical examiner's report on Sicknick's death wasn't finished yet: "We are awaiting toxicology results and continue to work with other government agencies regarding the death investigation."
"Officer Sicknick's family has asked for privacy during this difficult time and that the spreading of misinformation stop regarding the cause of his death," the statement said. "The Department and the Sicknick family appreciate the outpouring of support for our fallen officer."

The New York Times first reported that investigators have zeroed in on one suspect, but have yet to identify the assailant by name.
CNN previously reported that authorities had winnowed it down to a handful of suspects and that new video evidence from the attack helped investigators narrow it down.

Yeah that was super cringey. And his repeated ‘What?’ Every time he said something stupid and nobody reacted.
Trump Jr.'s speech was his usual mix of lies, half-truths, and self-victimization, accentuated with a big lie about something incredibly irrelevant: "The Muppets" (no offense meant to any Muppets.)

"This month, this month alone, they've banned The Muppets," Trump Jr. lied, blaming "the radical left" for the cancellation that did not happen.

"Right. I mean, if there's things that you thought were sort of above cancellation, you would be wrong. There is nothing, the radical left won't cancel. "

He was probably referring to Disney +, where almost every Muppet episode can now be seen. Entertainment Weekly reports that two episodes are missing, one because Disney could not secure the rights to the music in an episode, and one because the guest star of that episode is now a convicted sex offender and was "found guilty of possessing child pornography."

One only has to read the thread in tv/streaming/radio to see how many people have only read the headline then inserted their own prejudices and stupidity to create their own version of reality. I continue to be surprised by the level of stupidity that the 'man on the Clapham Omnibus' demonstrates daily.

He also repeated the lie that "They're banning Mr. Potato head".
I first heard that one on an NP&E, repeated and bleated about by the usual frothing idiots who can't read past a headline.

Am I the only one really looking forward to Trump's speech at the CPAC thing this evening?? I think I may actually be 'missing him' - note(!) this is in the same way that you want to see what has happened in a car crash but don't wish the crash on anyone - an effort to keep it on a motoring forum smile
