Gaetz News

Matt Gaetz’s former classmates say he’s an embarrassment to William & Mary Law School and should resign

"In interviews, many of Gaetz's former friends and acquaintances from William & Mary Law School's class of 2007 said they were embarrassed by the constant headlines about the GOP congressman's scandals. Insider spoke with 14 of Gaetz's former classmates. Most of them spoke on condition of anonymity to protect personal and professional relationships," with Insider adding, "One former law-school classmate regularly trolls Gaetz on Twitter by welcoming the congressman's critics to the 'Matt Haetz Society.'"

Insider reports that "Of the more than 500 William & Mary Law School alumni who signed a petition urging Gaetz to resign, 34 of them were members of Gaetz's own class of 2007, of which there were about 200 people overall."

A digital marketing firm closely linked to the pro-Trump youth group Turning Point USA was responsible for a series of deceptive Facebook ads promoting Green party candidates during the 2018 US midterm elections, the Guardian can reveal.

In an apparent attempt to split the Democratic vote in a number of close races, the ads purported to come from an organization called America Progress Now (APN) and used socialist memes and rhetoric to urge leftwing voters to support Green party candidates.

Facebook was aware of the true identity of the advertiser – the conservative marketing firm Rally Forge – and the deceptive nature of the ads, documents seen by the Guardian show, but the company determined that they did not violate its policies.

Rally Forge would go on to set up a pro-Trump domestic “troll farm” for Turning Point Action, a “sister” organization of Turning Point USA, in 2020, earning a permanent ban from Facebook.

“There were no policies at Facebook against pretending to be a group that did not exist, an abuse vector that has also been used by the governments of Honduras and Azerbaijan,” said Sophie Zhang, a former Facebook employee and whistleblower who played a small role in the investigation of the Green party ads.

She added: “The fact that Rally Forge later went on to conduct coordinated inauthentic behavior with troll farms reminiscent of Russia should be taken as an indication that Facebook’s leniency led to more risk-taking behavior.”

Sen. Ron Johnson Claimed on Fox yesterday that Jan. 6 Was Not an ‘Armed Insurrection’ Because People Stayed ‘Within the Roped Lines’

Really? All those people chasing the copper up the stairs, the photos of people in offices, the policemen assaulted...

“They weren’t rioting. It doesn’t look like an armed insurrection when you have people that breach the Capitol, and I don’t condone it, but they’re staying within the roped lines in the Rotunda. That’s not what armed insurrection would look like.”

Levin chimed in, “And I believe an armed insurrection requires arms.”

Three people were charged with federal firearms violations in connection to the insurrection, and court documents show numerous other “deadly or dangerous” weapons were brought into the Capitol. According to CBS News, those included “Tasers, tomahawk axes, crowbars, flagpoles, a knife, an ice axe, a firecracker, a stun gun, baseball bats, fire extinguishers, a wooden club and chemical spray.”

The question is now being asked - who else was trump spying on. We know he has years of previous gathering dirt on opponents, using the likes of the National Enquirer. Over the past few weeks it's been revealed that trump used the DOJ to seize data the personal data of everyone from Journalists he didn't like, the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, to Trump’s own White House Counsel Don McGahn. These targets are so far apart that many people are now saying this is just the tip of the iceberg. Who else did trump spy on?

We know people like Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul, turned from huge anti trump to suddenly became two of trump’s biggest cheerleaders following meetings with him. Justice Anthony Kennedy suddenly retired to let Kavanaugh in, at a time when his son Justin was revealed to be behind giving trump $700m in loans, even Muellers investigation faded away.

We now know trump was using the DOJ to spy on his political adversaries (illegally?). Was he also using any dirt gathered to blackmail people?

Remember the Bill to rename the NY skate park? The bill was passed last week.
The state Assembly has advanced a bill to rename New York’s Donald J. Trump State Park.

Democratic legislators have been seeking to rename the park, a dilapidated and unused collection of more than 400 acres located about eight miles east of Peekskill, since 2015. A committee vote on Wednesday was the first concrete step toward that happening.

“Our parklands should be reflective of New Yorkers that we can be proud of, New Yorkers that have expressed our values,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D-Queens), who sponsored the bill that was approved by the Tourism Committee. “There are a lot of other New Yorkers who are worthy of the honor of having a park named after themselves.”
https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/st...

New York State is poised to finally rid Trump’s name from a 400-acre state park that has remained mostly vacant and undeveloped for years. The State Senate passed a bill on Thursday directing the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to proceed with renaming the site for anyone but Trump. The bill now heads to the State Assembly, Manhattan Sen. Brad Hoylman said: “Trump has dishonored the state and should not be honored with a state park named for him.”

This comes at a time the trump brand is toxic. Remember the report last week that properties with the trump brand on it are plummeting in value

Former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks explained on MSNBC Sunday that there's no way that Attorney Generals Bill Barr and Jeff Sessions didn't know about the warrants to spy on reporters, Democratic members of Congress, their staff and families, and of his own White House counsel.

Barr, Sessions and former Justice Department deputy Rod Rosenstein have all denied they knew of the subpoenas to spy, but Wine-Banks explained that's impossible because something like this would go all the way to the top.

Host Alicia Menendez asked Wine-Banks if it was possible they didn't have any idea what was going on.

"In my opinion, no, and let me tell you why," said Wine-Banks. "First of all, we had [Osmar] Benvenuto, who was brought in at the recommendation of the U.S. Attorney from New Jersey, who was put in by Barr to replace the New York attorney who he was pushing out. He recommended Benvenuto who came in, and Benvenuto has said -- in a recording, that he briefed Barr at least every other week. So, it is not credible. And if Barr didn't know about this, then Barr is the worst manager, the worst Attorney General ever, because that is his job.

The Department of Justice policy requires that there be notice and approval from a higher source. So, it's not something that you can just subpoena a member of Congress' records or a reporter's records without something much more. So, it doesn't pass what I call the 'red face test.' It's like, could I stand up before a jury and say this in front of them without blushing or giggling? The answer is, no, I couldn't."

Rewriting history attempts...

Kayleigh McEnany insisted on Sunday that she never lied as White House press secretary because she believes in God.

While speaking to Turning Point USA's Young Women's Leadership Summit, McEnany recalled that she had been asked if she would ever lie to the American people soon after taking the job as press secretary.

"And I said without hesitation, no," she remarked. "And I never did. As a woman of faith, as a mother of baby Blake, as a person who meticulously prepared at some of the world's hardest institutions, I never lied. I sourced my information."

Speaker Pelosi is demanding that Bill Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Rod Rosenstein testify under oath about the Trump-era DOJ subpoenas.
Pelosi: The Justice Department under Trump "goes even beyond Richard Nixon."

Also, Speaker Pelosi to CNN: Trump "kowtowed, catered to Putin in a way that was humiliating to the United States."
On Putin meeting with Biden: "I think he's going to meet a very different president than one who was at the mercy of Putin."

Schumer is demanding that Senate Republicans join Democrats to subpoena Bill Barr and Jeff Sessions, as well as John Demers, the assistant attorney general overseeing DOJ's national security division.

"What has happened here are fingerprints of a dictatorship, not a democracy."

Leader Schumer on the Senate floor: "This appalling politicization of the Department of Justice by Donald Trump and his sycophants must be investigated by both the DOJ Inspector General and by Congress."
"Former Attorneys General Barr and Sessions and other officials who were involved must testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath. If they refuse, they are subject to being subpoenaed and compelled to testify under oath."

House Judiciary Chairman Nadler: "The House Judiciary Committee will investigate the Trump Administration's surveillance of Members of Congress, the news media, and others. I have instructed my staff to begin that work without delay."

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson's penchant for spreading false claims and misinformation shows no signs of stopping after a week in which he touted falsehoods related to both the January 6 Capitol riot and Covid-19.

The senator faced online punishment Friday after making false claims over treatments for Covid-19 and, over the weekend, downplayed the events of the January 6 riot during an interview on Fox News. Johnson has been one of the most prominent Republican senators this year to make false and incorrect claims -- often repeating narratives touted by former President Donald Trump and his allies -- over the pandemic and the Capitol riot.

Remembe there's still a court fight over getting the full unredacted Mueller report

Judge Amy Berman Jackson agrees to pause her order requiring full disclosure of a Mueller-era memo while DOJ appeals, but she's not buying the dept now blaming "imprecision" for govt's previous "misleading" filings about what the memo said

Another Capitol arrest

The FBI received a tip Jan. 7 that Nicole Prado traveled from their home in Maryland and took part in the insurrection, and agents later identified her from evidence posted on social media.

"Please meet the new congresswoman," said the other person, who posted video of Prado inside the Capitol on their Instagram account. "She was just in the Capitol for the first time today. She stormed the Capitol, she's the new congresswoman. She's the new speaker of the House."

The FBI obtained a search warrant Feb. 25 for that person's Instagram account, which had been deleted out of fears of being charged with trespassing, and found private communications with a third individual who assured the other person that Prado could not be identified through their posts.

Why not? We've seen people on this thread think trump can do no wrong because he's on the GOP ticket... ignoring that trump cares about noone but himself.

Dana Rohrabacher now admits he was at the Capitol insurrection after being spotted on video and photos. capitolhunters. found him there

Dana Rohrabacher, the former California representative who earned the moniker “Putin’s favorite congressman” for his coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin and moved to Maine after losing re-election, confirmed Monday that he participated in the Jan. 6 march on the U.S. Capitol.

Rohrabacher, who lives in York, told the Press Herald that he participated in what he says started as a peaceful march but said he did not enter the building. He confirmed he was there in an interview Monday afternoon after internet sleuths identified him in footage of the crowd that gathered on the west side of the Capitol.

Still the denials.
“By going into the building, they gave the Left the ability to direct the discussion of what was going on in a way that was harmful to the things we believe in,” Rohrabacher said, adding that he believed “Leftist provocateurs” encouraged the crowd to breach the building.
