It's an absolute joke.

MX5, one of the few knowledgable Covid posters is asking to have his account removed (I assume due to the bks being posted daily in the covid threads).

Byker getting kicked from this one.

It's trumps alternative facts winning out over real facts. A million blabbering idiots drowning out valuable content creators with inane false bks. The value of Pistonheads to me has just taken a hit - are there any alternative forums on the internet where the lunatics havn't taken control of the asylum?

Thing is now is that this thread, which was one of the better threads on here, will now go rapidly downhill. The idiots will return and it will just turn into a slanging match as, let’s face it, no one will bother to try and replicate what Byker does.

And then let’s see how vigorously rule 9 is enforced (it’s pretty much ignored everywhere else rolleyes )

I posted a link from the BBC website. Should i report myself, and everyone who posts a link to any other news related news source.
To be honest, I understand the rule (to an extent) in that plagarism (i.e. passing off someone else's work as your own) isn't on. IANAL so not sure how accurate the copyright thing is - someone in the feedback section suggsted the wording of the rule isn't quite right.

But, regardless of that Byker always posted a link to the article where the news came from, even if you copied the whole text surely providing the source is enough to show there was no intent to pass the work off as ones own :?

Add to that the inconsistency of a ban now - what changed ? did PH receive a C&D notice ? did someone complain ? what made the mdos take action today ? With no further explanation from mods, it has a bit of a whiff to it.

The irony is that those on the right typically post lies with no source or proof, which is completely acceptable by the rules...
My understanding, based of what was supposed to be the official PH interpretation of rule 16 was that a link to a news site, together with a brief abstract was acceptable and permitted. Indeed it an industry standard.

Looks like the Trump fawning mod(s) have arbitrarily redrawn the rules to protect their man and anonymous stalking horse.

Maybe Trump has an interest in Cargurus?

Meh. Thread had run its course, I think. A new thread covering upcoming trails, etc. would be more useful.

This is the most low-rent, incompetent and downright venal piece of moderation I've seen here in 20 years. It absolutely stinks.

Posting only to add another voice. The amount I have learnt over the last few years thanks to Biker’s posting has been huge. He has always engaged positively with anyone who disagreed with and stayed calm. This is a poor decision. There’s something rotten in the state of Pistonheads to coin a phrase!

There’s a 100% way of knowing when a thread has run its course. People stop reading it and people stop posting on it, and it gradually disappears.

Sad that a bunch of ignorant trolls who couldn’t argue against the facts that Byker was posting had to go crying to mummy.

Utter nonsense. As if NP&E wasn't bad enough already. I came here basically solely for Bykers contributions.

PH (and NP&E in particular) has taught me a lot.

Apparently there's this thing called "the left" which is intolerant and to blame for nearly all of society's ills.

How do I know "the left" is intolerant and evil? Because several (obviously tolerant wink ) posters say so again and again and again.

Apparently "the left" are all into cancelling things they don't like, which was an eye opener to me : many of my friends and relations are on the 'left' end of the political spectrum, and I've never heard them calling for people to be 'cancelled', so clearly they've been doing it in secret.

TL;DR
I don't mind people disagreeing with me (although they are obviously wrong wink ), but the endless litany of abuse toward "the left" is becoming a signature tune on NP&E.

I'm not calling for more moderation, just saying that PH is going downhill IMO.

To be clear, quoting for "news reporting of current events" which is 100% what's been going on in this thread is specifically
allowed by UK copyright law, as long is it's attributed.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm simply staggered by this decision.

Well, unless there's something we don't know, this appears to be a huge mistake that will hopefully be corrected.

Either way, shame on whichever integrity-free poster it was amongst us who made this their project.

Shameful.

It was the quality of this thread that pushed me to try and contribute to PH to try and rebalance what I gave and what I got from the site. This action by the mods has disappointed me more that I expected. Perhaps it is time to pull the plug and spend more of my time in the real world.

Looking in website feedback, someone does appear to have an issue with Byker

Judging from how quickly threads in there get closed it does make you wonder if they actually want website feedback.

Multiple threads on the same thing because no single thread ever lasts long enough to allow people to ask follow-ups and engage in a constructive dialogue before it gets closed.

Bit weird.

Why?
Indeed! Why? What have I missed? I’ve not posted this before but I have found his research, efforts and posts to be informative, reasonable (enough) balanced and has save me so much time.

Any ideas what’s happened??

He appeared to be anti Trump, and the mods don't appear to allow that now.
