Is he unbanned from the thread? Ben said he wasn't banned from PH, don't think he mention this thread.

I guess most Americans see trump for what he is,
Presumably excluding the 74.25 million people who voted for him and the hundreds of thousands to millions steadfastly buying into The Big Lie.
I'm not sure that you need to exclude them all, or even a good proportion of them.

Many of his followers actually admire the very characteristics that any decent person would find abhorrent, to them his narcissism, ego, crudity, lack of intellect and vindictiveness are a poke in the eye to those goddam commie intellectuals in Washington with their fancy college degrees.

On the face of it, it sounds tin foil hat-ish, but a lot of it makes sense.

Interesting.
Nope - it's tin foil.

Which is pretty typical for a lot of the recent responses in here - everyone else is bad and posts rubbish and is offensive and nutty and should be banned, but *we in here* are special and oppressed and should be allowed to do whatever.

You keep making the same 'point' over and over again. What are you seeking to achieve?

Who said someone should be banned?

No one is stopping you from expressing a view. Just don’t troll or derail the thread. Quite simple really.

You've been here a year and are saying tartans post is nonsense and then criticise the thread and it's contributors.

You see the irony I hope.

To expand on my first response :
Where is the call for "everyone else" to be banned?
Where is the evidence that "we in here" claim to be opressed?
Where is the evidence that "we in here" claim to be allowed to "do whatever"?

So many of the anti-Byker crowd post such pathetic and easily debunked rubbish - which makes me think it's just bitter idiots rather than disinformation.

The dormant accounts springing to life is more interesting.

I don't see people posting about PH being Stormfront or moaning about Covid posts exactly being supportive of other people, or indeed the reaction anything other than damning about Trump gets.

There were a *lot* of posts moaning about how the rest of PH is full of rubbish, and a lot moaning about how hard done by this thread apparently is when someone gets modded.

Which implies you think this one is right, the others are wrong, they should get modded and this one shouldn't.

And Trump is still not president anymore and reduced to ranting to himself like Hitler in the bunker and about as effective.

You need to be a bit more subtle if you want to influence, as it is your tone is just comfirming people's view of you

I think we maybe ought to disentangle 'different political views' with 'alt-right nudge tactics'...proximally at least.

Read TP's post back with a foot in the other shoe and try to keep nodding your heads - if you think this only applies to some sort of nebulous Sunsteinian alt-rightery you're sorely mistaken. Look soberly at what happened to our 'sense making apparatus' media during the Trump years - they did a fairly good job of nudging something that was 80% bad to being 110% bad, so much so that they missed perhaps the biggest story of the 21st century that has at its heart the very future existence of humanity. Surkov would be proud indeed.

There are loons on both sides, both constructing opposite realities for their own ends - look at the business models, the vapidity of the commentariat, the level of uncritical thinking, consider how far 'liberal' has morphed into 'illiberal', how 'kind' are you really when you're only kind to those you like and being hateful to those you don't doesn't count. Everyone bemoans 'echo chambers' within their own echo-chamber. Let's not be the kind psychiatrist fooled by the cunning psychopath, that's one of the things we cried about with Trump, right...?

I also get the Trump-induced anger, but that is the chimp within us all, so let me be clear in an attempt to mute some of it that's maybe heading my way - there is no virtue you could name that Trump wasn't, there is no way he should have ever been in that position, it's clear. But blaming it on bots and pyramids is the easy diagnosis [and is of course a part of it] but it doesn't require you to look inward at the sanctimony of the opposition and the revulsion of flawed people by it and the hypocrisy it necessarily generates. Assuming the worst in people as a default prior should ring alarm bells, shouldn't it? It's another Trumpian reflexivity.

Politics is horrendous at the moment, we don't select on competence, we select on narrative and in/out group with an increasingly Manichean mind-set set against a landscape we barely understand - this is the true 'populist' disease and it won't be cured by staring long and hard into either the abyss or the Washington Post...

If you want to make sense of it all don't read newspapers, read Robert Cialdini, Niccolo Machiavelli, Rene Girard, Eric Hoffer and Peter Pomerantsev and watch a boxset of the Sopranos.

I was mostly quite happy reading, watching the slow progression of the noose metaphorically tightening.

For clarity with Byker28i - they have not been banned from PH, but were put in the Sin Bin for me to have a word with today. I appreciate a couple of days may feel like an eternity with fast moving threads such as this, but they're now out of the bin and able to post again.
Suspect Byker's tactically lying low for a while (with/without tin foil hat)*

With each post you confirm how little you understand of this thread and the cult of Trump.
