CNN have published acting deputy attorney general Richard Donoghue notes when trump told Rosen to declare the election corrupt and to leave the rest to him and the GOP congressmen. I missed this earlier.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/30/politics/read-d...

Donoghue was again involved when trumps acting head of the Justice Department's civil division, Jeffrey Clark called for overturning the election results in Georgia and declare trump the winner.

Clark and Donoghue must be in line for subpoenas for the trump insurrection investigation

Edit: Remember the background and story to Clarks attempts

Two lawyers who filed one of trump frivilous Big Lie court cases have been sanctioned. The lawyers behind the case, Gary D. Fielder and Ernest John Walker, were reprimanded in a court hearing with the judge asking if it ever occured to them they were just repeating the stuff trump was lying about.

This was a lawsuit filed in Colorado claiming $160m in damages and filed against lDominion Voting Systems, Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan and elected officials in four states lawsuit repeating trumps Big Lie of a conspiracy to steal the 2020 presidential election

The pro-Trump lawyers will need to pay all the legal fees the defendants incurred defending themselves against this frivolous lawsuit.

Not really.

a) they thought they would succeed - so would be immune from prosecution

b) they are stupid

As Giuliani moans again about trump not paying his legal fees, I seem to remember at the first impeachment that Giuliani said that he had insurance,

Remember trump never paid him the $20k a day rate he wanted for promoting trumps Big Lie in court cases, in which he lost them all...

Cohens told him trump will ditch him rapidly. Time for that insurance Rudy...
It's difficult to believe that this is the same man who was held in such high esteem when, as mayor of New York, he cleaned up the city's corruption and much of the endemic criminality.

A salutory lesson indeed to those who took the Trump 'dirty dollar' and are now reaping the inevitable karma.

Wisconsin elections officials have removed more than 205,000 voters from the rolls.
174,307 voter registrations were deactivated simply because the voters hadn't cast a ballot in four years and didn't respond to a mailing.

Admittedly this seems fair. They're removing people who haven't voted for at least 1 federal election. Likely many of whom have left the state. The law in WI says they're supposed to do this every two years according to the article.

I have to wonder a put the other 30,700 though?

Surely this will impact more on the GOP vote than the Dem one? Or is it a false assumption that Dem voters are likely to be more active and more interested in the idea of using their vote?

The problem is that this has been used in the past, especially in Georgi to remove likely Dem voters. 2016 many went to the polls to find they weren't registered, hence Stacey Abrams efforts to get everyone reregistered. I'd expect to see similar efforts needed to be undertaken in Winsconsin.

Add this into the new Winsconsin voting laws to restrict mail in voting that was used extensively by dem voters
https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-wisconsin-...

Limiting drop boxes etc
https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-donald-trump-...

All designed to disenchant/limit dem voters. Remember trump lost by 20K votes here and was another state he tried to overturn the results
https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-campaign-tries-...

One wonders if this was another State where officials were subjected to his phone calls...

Not sure thats such a bad thing myself.

If they had voted but not responded then thats fair

No votes or response indicates may have moved or died to me

The number of votes cast in Wisconsin was 3,278,963. The voting-age population in Wisconsin was 4,536,293 (as of 2019, according to the elections commission), so you get a turnout rate of 72.3%.

205,000 from the roll when 1.3m didn't vote... be interesting to see the selection criterea wink and it's only because of Georgias antics in the past...

House investigators have interviewed Patrick Hovakimian, chief of staff to then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen for over 3 hours. He drafted a resignation letter on 3 Jan over what he said were trumps direct instructions to use the DOJ to support his Big Lie, his false election fraud claims.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/08/04/politics/justic...

Remember trump telling the DOJ to just declare it fraudulent and leave the rest to him and GOP congressmen...

Just Security with a huge article on how involved Mark Meadows was at the heart of pushing trumps Big Lie. They have a timeline of his actions known so far

https://www.justsecurity.org/77681/mark-meadows-ti...

Remember how Barr resigned on 15th December - he knew exactly what was happening and wanted to distance himself. Remember how he said he hadn't heard of any pressure on the DOJ from trump...yet we know thats exactly what was happening.

Remember how new Jeffrey Clark drafted letters containing false election information, which he wanted to send to the six states that Trump pretended he won, in return trump was going to make him acting Attorney General. Remember how he tried to pressurise the DOJ
