it's Trump, you've applied rational thinking & logic to an absurd, bizarre little creature that has none. The GOP have got to face up to the problem 30 years in the making - the schism between what was the small govt fiscal conservative core of the party and the 'new' core of Christian right wing social and economic conservatism. Trump and Pence gave the party to that lot, and I think that is going to be the direction of travel now. The next race is going to be awful.
