I obviously knew the big songs, but have just “discovered” Bruce Springsteen after shazamming “I’m on fire.” Great music and he had a massive stage presence back in the day. Legend!
He still does. Incredible performer and seems to be a really good person too. His autobiography is a good read.
His most recent album is great too. Grows on you and repays mindful listening.

He's a proper living legend, IMHO. Great performer and a great artist in the old troubadour style, along with Dylan and Guthrie.

It's a none story. He was seen by a cop taking a shot of spirit offered by fans. Not a wise move but certainly wasn't 'drunk'. Rock on Boss
Not sure Jeep would agree it is a non-story with their $5.5 million now down the drainCountdown said:

So you are suggesting that anyone who isn't already going to buy something isn't influenced by adverts and thus the whole advertising industry is a waste of time and money. Hmm...
I think the number of people who are swayed (in either direction) by this particular incident are quite small. What the advert will have done is to raise awareness of Jeep amongst Springsteen fans. That awareness (and any decision following on from that) isn't going to be materially affected by his arrest. So I think it's wrong to say that Jeep's advert spending is all "down the pan".bristolracer said:
.... Court will be obliged to make an example of him, high profile person, message has to be sent
Yeah, that's how it works in the US as demonstrated by OJ and Trump Impeachment vol.1 & vol.2. Oh and...According to reports, Bruce had a quarter of the legal alcohol in his system.

Then how are they pursuing a Driving Whilst Intoxicated charge? I understand that intoxication can result from a very small amount depending on the person but 25% of whatever the legal limit is seems to be pushing it somewhat. According to reports, Bruce had a quarter of the legal alcohol in his system.

So what's the story here then?According to reports, Bruce had a quarter of the legal alcohol in his system.
Is that illegal? Does he get a ban for it ?

It happened in a National Park which was apparently 'dry' so that's one charge. My money is on his lawyers getting it thrown out.
Yes, I can see that charge actually sticking, to be honest. Consumption/possession in that location is either legal or it isn't. DWI doesn't seem to apply here though, unless Bruce gets intoxicated on very low levels of alcohol and they can prove that he was intoxicated. Countdown said:

You really think Jeep were only hoping to gain sales from Springsteen fans?Anyway, Springsteen fan or not you won't be able to see the advert because Jeep have pulled it.

The whole driving whilst pissed thing seems to be much less serious in the US than it is here. They seem to have the attitude toward it that was largely eradicated by the early 80's here. You can see it in their comedy; Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin arriving home absolutely off their tits and nothing much is really said, it's accepted as naughty but relatively normal. You could never make British comedy like that because it's too far from reality here.
This is true and still a little shocking having lived here for 20 years. There is an attitude that if you don't hurt anyone then it is OK. Having grown up in England, it just does not sit right with me. Especially as Ubers are ubiquitous. eta, A few years ago I been drinking with friends near Boston. I was staying at a hotel across RTE1 with one of the friends. RTE 1 has a concrete divider and a fence in the middle so you can't cross it. I knew there was a road that went under RTE 1 though so we headed off to find it. After a significant amount of time staggering up and down we could not find the road. That was when a cop stopped and offered us a lift back.
As he drove us he said "Why did you not drive? Everyone else would.?"
To which I responded "I am significantly worse than I appear to be."
He said "you seem fine to me. I would pass you on the sobriety test.
He was a funny guy. I asked him to drop us off in the car park of the hotel so we wouldn't make a scene. He said "of course" and proceeded to drive up to the entrance and put on all lights and blip the siren. If you have never seen a US police car with all lights on it is quite a sight. I am sure they are visible from space.
