Will we ever get the numbers up to have another marathon again? So many promising young PBs never to be set.
If only they ever get to the top of the stairs again, life will be so sweet.
Stannah Stirlift sales must be going through the roof...
That's the problem with using cowboy installers.

I saw a Stannah stairlift van today, honestly, first one I've ever noticed/seen. You could be right :-)

Incredible.

I assume them they are testing them, its coming back negative and they are putting covid anyway as they have some symptoms.

How, just how, when this many tests are being done are we getting ~50 a day with it on their death certificate with no test.

I can only assume these are carehome deaths and its just being tagged by WFH doctors for ease.
We assumed last April tests were in short supply when they couldn't confirm if our BiL died with Covid, But to not take the time to do a quick test now doesn't make sense.

It still rankles with the Mrs, that he was a Covid statistic and nothing to do with pneumonia and a 35 year history of drug abuse.

Furlough up by 500k according to the ONS.

But no biggie.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9298959/A...

So the trend is actually accelerating.

But now's the time to start taxing business more.

If only there was a way to re-open the economy when the vulnerable had been vaccinated....

Complete madness.

Would you like it spelled out?

"What is indisputable is that many have seized on this to further their own agenda and a significant proportion of these individuals are in favour of the reordering of our economies and societies on environmental or far left grounds."

"The longer they keep us in lockdown the more damage they inflict and the closer they believe they will come to their goal."
A bit like her role model - Sturgeon - the idea that she is even capable of humility is frankly hilarious.

When was the last time she acknowledged that zero covid might not represent "the science".

Basically - again a bit like the Sturge - she cannot bear to be criticised. Only a question of time before she blames misogyny...

How I cannot wait for people like her with their sociology degrees to be removed from our screens.

Or they are dead before the result was back (Hospitals use PCR and NHS pillar 1 labs), or they refused a test or they were brought in dying and they didn't administer a test as they were trying to save them.

Posted this in the vaccine passport thread, but it's worth putting here if you missed the ITV news last night. Israel and its domestic vaccine pass app.
Not sure what's worse, having to have a vaccination app to do stuff or going to 'club nights' and 'dancing' in your car. frown

As I mentioned elsewhere: Israel has a relatively small, compliant, patriotic population with an integrated system which includes IDF information along with health records etc. UK on the other hand does not exactly have a good track record when it comes to public sector/government IT systems......... Can you really see it being implemented here?

Yes the result will be back but they were not at the time of death which is what the figures record.

I would hope not, but nothing would surprise me after the last twelve months.

It seems the R number is very high in the West Country - any ideas why?

If I die today having tested positive then it's column 1. If I die today before testing or the results are back, but I have been diagnosed with Covid then it's column 2 when the certificate is issued. If I die but need a PM then, if the results of that are Covid, then it's also column 2 but some time down the line.
How would you do it that isn't ludicrous?

National Covid 19 threat level reduced to 4.

Looking at the numbers locally not sure that description applies, maybe 3, certainly not even rising, never mind exponentially.

Seems odd they can justify this when the national R is supposedly below 1...

In which case you shouldn't be a Covid stat on the death certificate or added to the NHS figures. You are a Covid stat for cases but not for deaths. They are only when it is mentioned, as a cause, on the death certificate (For the ONS and column 2 for the NHS) or a positive test 28 days BEFORE death for PHE and NHS column 1.
