CV19 - Cure worse than the disease? (Vol 10)
Discussion
Round here the local tip has hour long queues. Another has shut at times because of the congestion caused by traffic backing up and people unable to reach or leave their homes. Garden centres are rammed with old people. Furloughers are all over the beach and out for walks. Vast numbers don't want to go back to work. Dolies are no pressure to get a job. A long lazy summer beckons. The government have created a monster.

I think this is the problem - furlough has created some serious economic and social issues. I don't know many people that don't want lockdown to end that arn't on furlough or HMG support.I have been working full time throughout the whole thing, and am grateful for that.

Are there any indications whether the 80+ were people who have 0, 1 or 2 vaccine doses?
Most 80+s had their first dose over a month ago, so would expect to be seeing a bigger drop by now.
Ah but you can test positive for covid, have been vaccinated (vaccine doesnt stop you getting the virus), die of old age or anything else but covid, and be counted as a covid death. Most 80+s had their first dose over a month ago, so would expect to be seeing a bigger drop by now.

But as you know, the government will taper the end of their Support, create the usual housing bubble (help buy variation is on way papers say), infrastructure projects for jobs, 'green' grants/loans to hone owners so they create jobs, financially incentivise the employers to fill officers again and so on.Carrot said:

Gawd, the facebook karens are out in force again with the "people breaking the rules are ruining it for everyone". It's like they can see the end coming, and are fighting a desperate rearguard action to hang on to lockdown as long as possible. "I'm a nurse and have to travel to work, everyone should stay at home to make my commute easier".
Some people are in for a very big shock this summer. I bet they'll still be moaning about it next year.
In for a shock this Summer? They'd be in for a shock if they went to any moderately sized town centre on a bright, warm weekend day currently. I live in throwing distance to a 'pretty' market town on a prominent river with a population of circa 20,000. It's gone from 28 Days Later to looking 90% normal in the last fortnight. Tide has well and truly turned. Some people are in for a very big shock this summer. I bet they'll still be moaning about it next year.

Positive cases / deaths
Tuesday 3 February 19,202 / 1,322
Tuesday 10 February 13,013 / 1,001
Tuesday 17 February 12,718 / 738
Tuesday 23 February 8,489 / 548
Tuesday 2 March 6,391 / 343
I've got to the point where numbers are largely meaningless to me now. Tuesday 3 February 19,202 / 1,322
Tuesday 10 February 13,013 / 1,001
Tuesday 17 February 12,718 / 738
Tuesday 23 February 8,489 / 548
Tuesday 2 March 6,391 / 343
Where does the 340 or so covid deaths put us compared to previous weeks for context? Are we still in October or post lock down 1 May or mid summer?
Very good news all the same.

I shall now adopt the appropriate October 2020 level of panic.

Zoe app which has been by far the best gauge of current infections at ~9-10k a day and stable. That's about half of what it was at the end of September so you should be at half the Oct levels of panic......I shall now adopt the appropriate October 2020 level of panic.

Oh look....a reported vaccine death. I think this should be counted as a death from the vaccine if getting squashed by a train within 28 days of a positive covid test constitutes a covid death.
“ A Japanese a woman in her 60s died from a brain haemorrhage three days after receiving a Pfizer coronavirus vaccination, the health ministry said on Tuesday, adding that there may not be a link between the two.”Not exactly conclusive really.
Good effort though.

Does she honestly think this will be possible to implement?? I have a collection of 6 motorcycle snoods. I keep one in the car in case of emergency shopping & another one for the weekly Sainsburys run. Have not actually purchased any type of mask during this & have no intention of spending a single penny on one.I'm still alive......

Easy to forget mask wearing isn't about protecting you and your own health, it's about protecting everyone else. Same theme with the vaccinations.I'm still alive......
