FFS don't make this into another fking CV thread.

Anyway, i think considering what could have happened, i think this budget has addressed all the concerns that everyone had.
Quite.

I have no idea what he could have done to keep everyone happy.

I'm not financial whiz but this all sounds reasonably sensible.

Yup. I am done with the Tories. 5 figure tax increase for me in 2023.
You do realise the rabbit out of the hat 130% is a quid pro quo - so get spending drive your business ahead. Or choose not to try to grow and yes pay the 25%.

What is the alternative?
Increases in income tax and VAT and fuel duty. Why is it down to business to pay for this mess?

You think labour (anti business) or Libs would reduce that? Come on now.
I actually don't care anymore. The Tories assume that there is no one else to vote for and it does not matter how impacted people are they will continue to vote for them. Not this time.
As previously posted, you're caring about 25% and 19% (Conservative) but not caring about 26% and 21% (Labour, nothing has changed as yet). How odd.

Professional services - capex is pretty low.

What is your effective personal tax rate? Income taxes are high enough as it is. Especially for higher earners.

I suspect your tax affairs to be much better than if you were a PAYE employee.

The sooner you stop worrying and accept you have basically no influence on government direction the easier life becomes. After all, don’t like the Tories? Gonna vote Labour then?...

Just live in a broadly diversified world of bliss hehe

Spread your cash and options around and it never gets too impactful, no matter what they do.

I expect better of you Eric than to make assumptions about my personal circumstances and how this has or has not impacted on me personally.

I'd say it's rather disgraceful and selfish of you to disregard the impact these lockdowns have had on the mental health of far too many young people of this country.

Death toll would have been incredible? Really? Thought we were all now aware that the virus was non lethal in 99.x% of people who were infected.

As for the collapse of the NHS, it's going to collapse every winter yet nothing is ever done about it.

Guess we are just going to disagree on this one beer
Absolutely.

I cannot fathom an attitude like yours.

Don't expect a 6% increase in CT from a Tory government. If I vote for them again, how do I show that I disagree with their approach? It's worth the short term pain of a labour government who I doubt will be meaningfully worse that the present Tories.

What increase in fuel duty? He’s cancelled the planned increase.
He’s extended by a year the hospitality Vat cut 6m 5% rest of time 12%. Taxes

Income tax isn’t increased but tiers are frozen - so if you don’t get a pay rise for 5 years you’ll pay no more tax. If you do get a pay rise then you’ll lose out on inflation change to the lower threshold.

I wonder what the pensionable age will be when I’m 70?

Depends on how old you are now I guess. I think it will be pushed back past 70 at some point - just concerned about how much notice they give everybody to plan accordingly

Would be a tad unfair on those who were planning on it being a certain age to then fund that with 5 years to go, the goal posts have moved.

Mind you, when have politicians ever acted in a fair manner?

The personal tax freeze is a surprise I was expecting a hike (wouldn’t be too stressed by it either as the last 12mths haven’t seen a negative £ impact for us)

It's actually largely the same for employees, self-employed and div\salary. Difference is in the ER NI.
