Or, and hear me out here, this might sound crazy - we have an actual pandemic of an actual virus which actually kills people, particularly elderly people, and our governments are trying, with various degrees of competence, to manage the situation with as little death and suffering as they can?

Nah, must be illuminati.
Which would be great, if the actions in response to it we even remotely proportional to the actual threat. If they were, there would be no talk of conspiracies.
You have zero idea what would have happened if the response hadn’t been what it was.
If there had been a much lower key response, and the death toll was 3 or 4 times higher than now, the conspiracy loons would just be talking how the high death rate was planned by the lizard overlords.

Mental will always find a way.
In March last year, sure, we had little idea. But we know plenty now and have done for a good while.

Yeah, although it's a fair bet that the economic problems caused by the black death were proportionally bigger.
Oh that's ok then...

No point really rehashing the same arguments which have been gone over ad nauseum elsewhere, but to return to the topic - none of this has changed my mind about being glad I don't employ any rat-lickers.

They don't really know that it reduces transmission at all. Due to the number of variables they probably won't ever know either.

I tend to agree with you, it is far too early to say yey or ney to transmission. It has so far been administered mainly to older people, who dont work, during a decent period of lockdown! Of course there is less transmission now, but how much is due to the vaccines? Unless everyone who's had a vaccine has gone bananas and is ignoring the lockdown, they cannot be sure how much or if at all it reduces spread, outside of a lockdown. And Hancock / Bojo have been telling us for weeks, stay in lockdown even if you've had vaccine!
I hope they are right, that is does reduce the spread significantly, but think it far too early to say so!

If you care to look outside the UK at Israel, which is a country of 9 million, you might learn what others have been learning.

You do know the manufacturers actually test for this?

It might not be a conspiracy but big business is always looking for the latest thing to make a few bucks from.

The corporates will use various means to nudge towards the current fad.

Government and big business have always been in bed together for good or bad.

The vaccine is being sold at cost.

Except that AZ are contractually obligated to produce this at cost. It's the basis of Oxford permitting them to have it in the first place.

I'm waiting for the theorists thoughts when we get a lockdown for this.

I know that is the case for the vaccine. I was commenting on the veganism/conspiracy point.

Rubbish. Just look at 5G conspiracy theories. Absolutely no basis in science or common sense, yet people are setting fire to infrastructure.

I'm curious.
Are you at risk from covid?
Have you had the vaccination?
I am still moving around various sites in the UK trying to keep the company I work for economically viable, and keeping food on your table.
My only concern regarding the 'pandemic' is my in laws who live over the road, since day one I have done my best to reduce their contact with the general population and reduce their chances of contracting covid.
Reason for this is it would be likely, statistically, to either harm or kill them.
So I carry on as normal and protect those I can see are vulnerable, I also shop for several older couples in my estate.
You however would view my employment prospect with your company as a no.
As I have not been injected with a substance which
a) I haven't been offered.
b) Has not had data verified to tell me it is safer than the disease.
I have no idea what you do for a living but if that is your appreciation of critical thinking skills then, sorry, but I would not retain you.

I won't argue with any of that. I think you're in favour of vaccine passports (which is I think the gist of this thread's subject) - if so, how do you make the connection between your view point expressed above and a desire to see passports introduced ? Is it simply "every little helps" ?

All these people that say we must not question the science, why are they still driving cars and going on holiday? The government appointed scientists all around the world have been saying we have been killing the planet for the last 30 years.

You are all a bunch of two faced idiots.
That’s such an infantile argument.

I thought this was reasonably grown up compared to the anti-mask thread!

At least the "easily offended" aren't here yet!
