So driving so fast you fail to negotiate a bend is purely an accident then? Goes against all UK 'speeding kills' propaganda, doesn't it?
There have been various threads/pictures in PH where people have run out of talent and ended up in a field, backwards through a hedge, etc. Should they all have been charged then or were these also an accident? robinessex said:
"A reckless driving charge has a lot of elements into it, this is purely an accident," Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told reporters............
This is where he went off and ended up at the end of the red arrow.....From road level, you really have to wonder how on earth he got to where he did, had to have been doing an almighty speed to crash through that tree line with enough momentum to roll for the distance he did.......or he fell asleep and his leg stomped down on the accelerator would be my inclination, probably came to with the impact of the first tree..... and had a right WTF pant soiling moment.....

Or something ran onto the road and he lost control as he swerved to avoid.
Between the point of leaving his lane and ending up in the scenery you would expect to have scrubbed off an awful amount of speed by being on the brakes or even through an almighty tankslapper. If that really was the path of the accident I’d guess he either lost concentration completely or fell asleep at the wheel.Muncher said:

If he hit the kerb and the bouncy SUV started going boing boing boing down the road his brakes probably made the accident worst.
Kerbs are good at making cars lose contact with tarmac.
I would guess he nodded off. Micro-sleep. Probably going over the speed limit but not as much as you might think....maybe even cruise set....?
Oh well, no surprises here......
Police investigation says he was almost doing double the speed limit. As already mentioned, the car did a bloody good job of saving his neck.

Sounds very like the 2009 Toyota brake pedal hysteria."There is zero braking on that data recorder," but "there is 99% acceleration on the pedal," Powers said.
Malcolm Gladwell examined the tragic events and likely cause.
