Three pages on one of the most famous sportsmen alive having a car accident and two thirds are arguments between pedantic nerds about what car it was.
It’s Pistonheads, the car is important. Now we know for sure it’s a hideous Genesis instead of a hideous Bentley. I’m sure a Bentley are thrilled some of us mistook their lump for this thing. As for Tiger, dpnt write him off just yet, He’s had lots of severe knee and back injuries through his career and made some incredible comebacks. He’s even played injured to the point where he’s clearly been in a lot of pain doing so. I hope we’ll still see him in action again.
News reports say he was freed using 'jaws of death" but the car doesn't appear to have been chopped up - which is odd, if he had to be removed from the car with broken legs.
Maybe they just drag people out there - here the fire brigade have the roof off for the slightest thing. OK the car has a big sunroof, but there's still no sign of cutting.

Well, this is the worst marketing Genesis could ever have had for their car, that it has left him with a smashed up leg whilst wearing a seatbelt and the car doesn't look THAT badly deformed.
Plenty people have walked away from far worse crashes.
Looks like a pretty big hit to me.Plenty people have walked away from far worse crashes.
Not sure if SUV have to meet car safety standards in the USA, pickups dont.
I would think with a golfer, the mechanics of body movement play a bigger role in the elite level player than a bike racer as a percentage of the overall performance. Just think of how it can take years for these players to develop a new swing style post basic injuries that have had a muscular effect.

Or the occupant of a car that appears to have hit a tree at speed survived with only leg injuries.Folk accusing others of being melodramatic are a bit wide of the mark. For those of us who play and/or follow the game his situation looks very serious, if the reports are accurate I’d think it likely he won’t come back.
His age and history of knee and back injuries are very much against him. He may well play again, but not at the elite level, these days golf is very much a power game and I suspect he simply won’t be able to compete. It’s a great shame that it should end on this note, but as others have said it’s not the end of the world.

I’m perhaps more concerned regarding his mental state prior to the incident. His age and history of knee and back injuries are very much against him. Doesn't take much for firefighters to get all excited and bring out their toys unnecessarily so I wouldn't read too much into that. The reports state that he appears to have been driving too fast on his way to a TV appointment. I think his Masters win in 2019 was proof that he has got control of his head back, but who are we to know? Sheepshanks said:

The amount of guff on here is astounding. The amount of torque and stress put through your legs and knees/ankles when swinging a club at 120+mph is huge. There's a reason he's had 5 back surgeries. His fitness is astonishing and completely transformed the modern game.
The average club golfer barely swings at 90mph so trying to compare to the greatest golfer is nothing short of ridiculous.
I hope he makes a recovery but it's going to be a very long road.
