Max throttle would more likely indicate foot hard on the throttle in the mistaken belief that it is the brake pedal. Hard to believe, but a well established cause of accidents. Listen to the Gladwell podcast.Leithen said:

The car starts going faster, but your brain jumps to the conclusion that the throttle is stuck. Basically your brain gets stuck in a loop. You probably stand a chance in a straight line, but on a corner, only one thing is going to happen.
