"Try to be less white" - what?!?

Thing is, Kessler is a black fella. So Chevrons and Sgtbuttmuch need to think about what they've written now that they know that.
Eek! Totes Awks. So, do you see his point now?
I have thought about it after this post, even though when I said I was white and I didn't find that slide racist that was apparently irrelevant. Eek! Totes Awks. So, do you see his point now?
Genuinely I thought maybe I've got the definition of racism wrong. I think that's easily done. So I went to the dictionary and looked for the definition of what racism is, as I think that's a fairly sensible place to check.
From the Oxford English dictionary:
"prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized."
So reading that slide, with that definition in my mind, it's still not racist to white people. White people aren't in a minority or a group that's marginalized - in the UK at least. But that slide's on the New Zealand Herald site, so a quick look for figures to see how many white people are in New Zealand returns 72%. Maths isn't a strong point, but that seems like a majority to me. So no, that slide is not racist to me. And I stand by that.
Really the only thing I want to apologise for here is assuming Kessler was white. I am really sorry for that.

Racism works both ways. Imagine 'try to be less black'....?!
Absolutely shameful.
Your problem is you're using the non-woke definition of racism. Under the 'woke' definition, white people are automatically racist. And don't try to use logic or maths to try to wriggle out of it. Maths is also racist:Absolutely shameful.

"White supremacy culture shows up in math classrooms when... The focus is on getting the 'right' answer."

"a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others."
My bold, and in my opinion that is what Coca Cola have done here. Perversely, by treating non white people as some sort of victims who need to be patronized and treated specially because they are so weak and inferior, it's racist against them too! Bravo!
The biggest issue I have with this whole thing is that I really like Dr Pepper.
My immediate reaction was defensive, and would be insulted if that was shown to me at work.
Yes, I'm sure a suitably qualified "facilitator" could wheedle their way to make an argument that being made to feel uncomfortable about who you are is an every day experience for BAMEs, or LGBTQ etc. Or that challenging discussions help change views.
But I would agree with the majority: that by assigning negative traits to a skin colour, it falls comfortably into the racist category, and does more damage than good.

Do educate me on how that would have affected your argument. I've already pointed out above in the post you didn't fully quote that I still don't think the slide is racist and cited reasons for it. I don't care if you don't agree with that or the OP doesn't agree with that view. All I wanted to make clear was my apology for me being a prick to the OP for thinking he was yet another angry middle aged white man.

Do educate me on how that would have affected your argument. It's OK to be a prick to white people, because they are bad/angry/inferior/superior/whatever
But it's unacceptable to be a prick to black people because or systmeic rasism or something and one must apologize.

Prejudice against any group based purely on skin colour is racism, no matter who the perpetrator, no matter who the victim. Anything else is bullst.
