Thought that was Ant from Ant & Dec, pity.
Who Dares Wins without him and his slightly squeaky camp voice will be like Top Gear without Clarkson. ste in other words.

This was his tweet, with bold.

“The extreme left against the extreme right. When did two wrongs make a right. It was only a matter of time. BLM and EDL are not welcome on our streets, absolute scum. What a great example you are to your future generation. Bravo.”

It's a bit like Trumps "very fine people" in reverse in some ways.

He should know better. Anyone with a public profile, least of all on C4, should know there are unwritten rules and keep their mouth shut. THey aren't right but they absolutely exist. Very foolish.

So calling out violent political extremism is wrong?

He basically told others to do it as well.

The guy is a plank.

Yep I agree. However if you’re on tv / a “sleb” it shouldn’t really be much of a surprise. It mystifies me why these people choose to post at all on social media as there is no upside, just a ton of potential downside.

I think I covered this when I wrote 'there are unwritten rules ... THey aren't right but they absolutely exist'
Having a public profile is a game, if you break the rules you lose.
Social Media is a ctually quite important in maintaining a profile. Of course not all need it but it is a massive career boost to some. You might still watch his program if he's not on socials, but would people know about / read his books or whatever revenue streams he creates? It's like a replacement for PR. Anyway doesn't matter now he's effectively cancelled himself I can't believe he was so stupid to be honest.

He's an extremely rich guy. Maybe he has decided to simply say what he thinks and to hell with the consequences. Or he could have been drunk. In any event, you won't ever see him penniless.

I’m guessing it’s ok to call EDL scum, but not BLM?

He made a statement, then instead of standing by it, backtracked instead of apologising, not really a ''tough guy'' stance. Definitely future Tory politician though.

Like someone above, read Ant from A&D at first! Was expecting a story on the evils of dd, not a d list 'celeb'

Still, don't expect him to go short when he's supposedly made a few million quid from c4!

Reminds me of the unconscious bias thread....unspoken rules exist all over the place as well for those not in the spotlight.

It goes without saying it's the BLM aspect that's drawn ire.

I'm not sure if BLM and EDL can really be compared: they're both 3 letter acronyms, but throwing in EDL into a sentence won't absolve anyone from criticising BLM. Especially after the year we've just had...

J k Rowling is standing up for her beliefs (on gender) and drawing significant and prolonged criticism. She is wealthy enough to weather it though.

It's not a path many could survive for long, especially those who need to be in the limelight to continue their career.
