Just be quiet and take the money.
And that's where he'll fall over...Charles is too much of an activist, unlike his mum. Those who pay attention already know about the "spider letters" to ministers. If he carries that on as sovereign, it'll leak constantly and the public perception could change very quickly.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Canada/Australia/NZ/etc drop the monarchy when the queen steps down, which might be one reason for her wanting to keep on as long as possible.
Aren’t some countries looking into changing their flags too ?(with the Union Jack on them )new Alex Salmon fish flag
This thing with staunch Royalists, who think the monarchy is a great system, suddenly getting picky about Charles becoming king, and suggesting the succession skips on a bit - sorry, that's not the way it works. You have to take the rough with the smooth. You could almost say that it's tantamount to treason.

Want to point out these "staunch royalists" doing the things you state?Or is it just an invented premise so that you have a point to make that suits you?

I think he'll do a decent job, doesn't exactly have to do much.
He's been way ahead of the prevailing winds on a number of topics over the years, it's the Diana fetishists that hate him so much.
I think he will be "ok" but more interventionist on key topics than the Queen. He's been way ahead of the prevailing winds on a number of topics over the years, it's the Diana fetishists that hate him so much.
Philip struck a nice balance of championing causes (e.g. technology) rather than preaching on them.

Quite. It is an institution that has elevated doing absolutely nothing in pretty much every situation to an art form and wrapped it in terms like 'dignified'.Edited by AnotherClarkey on Tuesday 13th April 13:36

The OP suggested just that in his post. I have no way of knowing if he is a "staunch Royalist", an expression I made up on the spot.
Certainly not a "staunch Royalist".. I respect the Queen and the immense service she has given this nation over many decades. She has been the soul of discretion and her views and opinions remain largely unknown, especially in the spheres of politics, climate and social issues..Prince Charles doesn't have these qualities, so my opinion is, that once the Queen's reign is over, "The Firm" can close....!
Charles is the new King

Goodbye your majesty and thank you for your service.
I’m not sure the public will warm to King Charles quite as they did for Queen Elizabeth but time will tell.
