A formal diplomatic reprimand, is that worse than a non-conviction?

I just wish the US would invite that wet blanket Hancock to the White House for Harris to give him a formal Chinese burn.

Puts the UK on the USA untrustworthy list.

If Johnson ignores its and escalates, US investors could start to look elsewhere.

Crikey, yet more bad news for the bumbling Bozza as President Biden admonishes his blooper-prone tory Gov regarding imperilling N.I peace...!!!

"Any steps that imperil it or undermine it would not be welcomed by the United States," said Sullivan, who declined to characterise Johnson's actions as imperilling the peace.'

Seems to me the only one's threatening the GFA is the EU.

It wouldn't surprise me if Yanks haven't read the NIP.

The Americans have always placed greater emphasis on north/south than east/west. Can't think why...

Clinton seemed to really get it. Frost being on hand to help bring Biden up to speed could make this interesting.

Personally, I think the EU have shot their bolt with Biden too early.

Until you realise the biden identifies as Irish and a good number of Democrats are far more pro Ireland than pro UK.

He can identify how he likes - if he doesn't realise the GFA wasn't just about republican violence, then he's in danger of creating the issue he states he most wants to avoid...

Which 'Irish'?

The ones who set bombs because they didn't want to be part of the UK, or the ones who set bombs because they did want to be?

None of the current squabble is of any benefit to the Irish. If that's truly who he wishes to support, he should tell the EU to get their house in order and insist both parties get to the table to negotiate in good faith.

It's also worth noting that Biden's comments are as much for his home audience as for anyone in Europe. Self image is very important here.

As an aside, in a previous life I used to tend to a cemetary somewhere in middle England. At least once a month, I'd get some random American turning up asking to find the grave of their distant ancestor. Usually they were directly related to Shakespeare. Apparently.

Well they are far more likely to support the republicans than the unionists if history is anything to go by.

And as guarantors of the gfa it will end up with eire and the US together with the EU.

But hey boris has taken back control, its just a shame he is useless at exercising it

At what point do the tory party st themselves and remove boris?
His gentle brand of slovenly ignorance seemed to work when his buddy trump was around.
Now he just looks a bit silly and nothing is actually getting done. Apparently the whole purpose of life on earth is to administer a vaccine really well
and open the borders to whichever stupid nation comes up with a new variant.
Its so pathetic. He would have instantly shot back an insult after the USA rebuke of his cack efforts but has had to bite his lip like the little bh he is lol.

Not when he is polling 46% and is 16% ahead of Labour in the polls that is for sure. If he wins in Batley and Spen on top of unlocking on the 21st he will be untouchable. So expect an avalanche of ste from the press and the Grrrr Boris crowd for the next couple of weeks.

No, most people care about facts. But the giggles you and some of the others give are comedy gold.

Biden administration has been at BOTH the UK and EU on this. NOT because they really care, but it affects THEIR home interests (and Biden's feet are at the fireplace)...

If you think the EU has some stronger pimp hand here, you should read what the Biden administration is saying about the EU's China and Russian reproachment. The EU being quality supporters of human rights. Oh, sorry they are not.

The US doesn't give 2 figs about anyone, except their own interest. If you think Biden and the democrats are some right on PC unicorns, you are even more deluded. 22 wars in 100 years they declared? Jog On.

The Ireland situation is a car crash because of BOTH the UK and EU. The EU thinks it can leverage us due to size, but that has never worked with the UK. We are total bandits, pirates, fking ninjas when it comes to getting out of a hole. I actually think we ARE probably being a bit dickish on NI, but the epic failure of EU confirmation bias (bit like you) to read the UK (and its strengths) is kinda funny. Or are you the 220lb ripped PH director who thinks he can negotiate with Francis Begbie? If the US gave us a ticking off, it's meaningless given what they need elsewhere. Politically - BJ's position IS stronger than Biden's right now; regardless of the st that UU and some of the wally group suggest.

Biden would have more credibility if he came over and lambasted our Football team for cultural appropriation on "Taking the Knee". It has no context outside the US given its significance to BOTH the Star Spangled Banner and Military service. That would cause heads to explode, I'd applaud that.
