I suspect you may be dealing with cultists here, El Stovey.

Cultists who attempt to provide a thin veil but are, in fact, transparent.

Cultists (I think I spelled that right).
I don’t think it’s a cult but I think those who have been defending him since day one have realised that they’ve now been sold a pup and been taken in for fools. They can’t bring themselves to admit that of course and so the only options are to disappear from these threads or double down in their support,

Boris is a dead man walking now. It’s plain to see and it’s only a matter of when he goes and whether Boris has any say in when that is so why the continuing febrile support is strange to see.
Indeed. and Starmer must go for the same reason (wonder if that is why he keeps on catching Covid?)

The idiot tories who broke their own rules regarding the Covid lockdowns are indeed idiots.
What on Earth were they thinking when they did it?
The same goes for Starmer who was photographed doing exactly the same thing, and for some in the media who were caught partying in the middle of the lock downs.
However some of the worst hypocrites are the media, because for weeks they have been rightly moaning about the government breaking the Covid rules. Yet in the very same news program they were whining when Australia was and is sticking to `its' Covid rules and not admitting Djokovich to play tennis there.
As usual the media were harping on about the point that the idiot tories were having a party, whilst others, were not able to see their loved ones in a care home, or in hospital, and in danger of dying.
But when the Australian minister made the point that why should Djokovich be allowed in, when he has not, and did not want be vaccinated, whilst others who might have a far more important reason for getting into the country, were not being let in?
It is quite straight forward, It is `their' county and `their' rules. If someone who wants to get in to Australia does not want to be vaccinated, that is fine, but they cannot then expect to be let in just because of `who' they are.
The whole thing has degenerated into a mess, not helped by either side, not fully following the rules.
So we have a situation where the media are having a go at one government for NOT sticking to its own rules, Yet also having a go at another government for wanting TO stick to their own rules?
Utter hypocrisy on the part of the media.
I haven't seen much sympathy for the tennis player in the media?
Neither have I. The Australians at least `try' to stick to `their' Covid rules! and dont believe they should be bent or ignored to allow the rich and famous into the country, no matter who they are.
Sorry, I must have misunderstood your post. Did you not suggest the Australian govt was being criticised for sticking to its rules? I have not seen that side of things anywhere, the tennis player seems universally to be portrayed as the 'bad guy' in the media, and rightly so

Anyone left defending Boris seems to have more concerning judgement issues than people like El Stovey pointing out his all too obvious shortfalls.

They are hardly equally extreme positions - only one looks extreme from here, and it is not extreme to say so!

Hilarious. Alleging that anyone who doesn't lump into an extreme one end or t'other tribe but tries to figure out the always present shades of grey is automatically a dyed in the wool supporter for the tribe you personally don't like.

You are a big part of today's problems.
Why do you write “hilarious”, you’re obviously just getting triggered (again) by people pointing out your complete hypocrisy.

I don’t dislike any tribe.

Boris’s biggest fan (or most honest) is possibly vanden Saab at the moment. I’d love to go for a drink with him and I’m sure we’d have a great time. I have no Ill feelings towards him at all.

Stop being so polarised and black and white. Just because you’re a frothy reactionary doesn’t mean us other people arguing are like you.

Then you did not see BBC news this morning where Charlie Stait, and Nagah Munchetty were grilling an (ex) Australian minister who was defending his countries decision to uphold their Covid rules, and stop Djokovich from getting into the country.
Seems it is wrong for this country to ignore, or bend the rules applying to Covid, but right for an individual (who does not want to be vaccinated) to try to get past the Covid rules of another country?

I did actually watch breakfast this morning but only with one eye on it. Isn't it their job to 'grill' guests? The coverage I have seen on the BBC has widely reported the many inconsistencies in the tennis players story.

Johnson is a shyster who can be a good (albeit a one trick pony) raconteur, with no apparent acceptable standards, integrity or moral compass, wholly unworthy of the position of PM of our nation.

He was a mildly amusing posh chap with a deliberately humbling persona when I encountered him at the Union Society many years ago. When I heard that he had gone from journalist to MP I rolled my eyes, and have done this many times since. He still has the same shtick as he did back then.

I asked all my classes to write a letter to the PM on Friday using emotive language, some wonderful pieces of work from S1 to S5, some siding with Boris, most against him.
