Does it? Cases are increasing considerably. That hasn't filtered through to hospitalisations and deaths yet. I don't dispute that they will be reduced due to the implementation of the vaccine but by exactly how much we don't know yet.
And how will delaying help those cases if they are rising under the current restrictions? All the current restrictions are doing is limiting economic growth, it’s not limiting virus spread and clearly hasn’t for 15 months. It’s a total facade of control, it is doing no one any good whatsoever.
Interesting to see mr lockdowns answer to this. Also ask: how does he think this affects peoples mental health again being told we are following a roadmap, then aren't. If we keep rattling on about variants, it will never end.

I can also assume he thinks the hypocrisy of G7 is a good idea? No masks indoors when not eating, no social distancing but fake gesturing for cameras with elbows and st.

Do you really believe that the restrictions have had no effect whatsoever on the spread of the virus?

Initially yes, but we must learn to live with it now, we are so far ahead of europe with vaccines yet so far behind with opening our country / businesses. We are ruining what was a great country.

The roadmap is being followed, it never guaranteed 21st June, Most people know and accept that.

Definition of a troll is also answering a question with a question. But as I’m polite I will answer and say that no I don’t think the imposed restrictions have had any effect over and above what people would have done on their own accord.

They have affected people’s health and well being negatively though.

This will never end. Cases are only going to rise unless we go into another lockdown. I can't see rules being lifted in 4 weeks as our situation will only be worse

I bet if there was an election on the horizon, we'd be mostly unlocking by now

Data not dates. But no one will answer the question on what the data has to show. We’re way below any modelling, we are way below any data compared to last year when we had at least as much freedom. So if you’re going to delay, tell us the actual numbers and reasons for it. Not cases, no one believes that nonsense anymore, hospitalisations is all we care about.
We're staying restricted due to predictions, which is bks:

BBC's Nick Triggle said:
The trajectory we are on means we could see January levels of infection by the end of July.

Exactly what that means for hospital admissions is less clear. It is already obvious that while the vaccines have weakened the link between cases and serious illness they have not broken it completely - admissions are rising after all.

Early data suggests less than 5% of cases are ending up in hospital - half the rate seen previously.

But that still has the potential to cause 2,000 admissions a day if we did reach January levels of infection - twice what the NHS would see for all respiratory illnesses in a bad winter.
HMG won't dare rip the plaster off and just crack on, so we're stuck while they listen to "the science".

My blood is boiling furious

This is not intended to end. This is the "new normal" they were talking about 15 months ago. They've stopped using the phrase because they are waiting for you to get used to it as "normal" and undeserving of a name.

If there was an election coming up we would be released, but only for the summer. Lockdown will be back. They have stage managed them well enough that most of the population think it "worked". So now it is just "another tool in the toolbox".

Back in January, we were told by Health Secretary Matt Hancock that once the “most vulnerable” had been vaccinated, our freedoms would be restored. But then we had to vaccinate the over-50s. The over-40s. The over-25s.

Now we’re told that we should delay the June 21 unlocking until everyone has had their second jabs. After that – rest assured – it’ll be ’until the children are vaccinated’. And then ‘we need to wait until everyone has had their booster jabs’.

The much-maligned ‘conspiracy theorists’ who predicted that this thing was never meant to end and that every time restrictions are supposed to end, they’ll find new excuses to keep them (with the latest being ‘variants’), have been proven right. The question everyone needs to be asking is: If restrictions aren’t lifted in high summer when deaths ‘with’ Covid-19 fall to close to zero, as they have done this month, then when will they ever be lifted?

Id guess, in a very long time

They are behaving as if you can't unlock and vaccinate people at the same time.

What should happen is we get rid of the rules, let people get on with a normal life, and simply recommend that people remain aware and take any precautions they wish.

I I've said it time and time again in this thread, this is little short of tyranny.

Great way to start the week, eh?!?? Now off to work, drones.

Back in February I got a 1 week ban for calling Alucidnation a naughty word after he dismissed everyone's concerns (repeatedly) with the idea that we were all moaning because we had another few weeks before we could go to the pub. Well, I'm still fuming, even though we can go to the pub. How can posters like him still post, and not just slink off in silent embarrassment? They've been proved wrong time and time and time again. And even now, this morning, we've got one idiot already defending this staggering decision. It proves that there is literally nothing that a lot of people won't support.

And our resident bookmaker - I offered him a bet when he was first trying to start that nonsense up. I said I'll bet him that we won't open up on June 21st. He dismissed it because "that wasn't the bet he offered". Yet, yesterday, someone posted a screenshot of him confidently saying that June 21st would go ahead. And he has been saying people who won't take HIS bet are all mouth and no trousers?! Why doesn't that work both ways? If he had anything resembling a pair of bks then he would have taken that bet and donating £100 to a charity of my choice right now.

I was pro lockdown for a while when this first started. I even laughed at some of the conspiracy theories. Sneered, even. Until, they all fking happened.

I feel dreadful for people who will be in tears this morning because of this news. More damage to business, livelihoods, futures.

Anyone who isn't absolutely fuming about this and actually thinks it is justififiable is selfish, stupid and dangerous.

My local MP is Mark Harper. I hope he can rally some more troops, though even with a huge rebellion, I don't see how this changes.

And if the usual posters want to reply to me with their pathetic, juvenile smiley retorts, then seriously - go to hell. You're the problem.

Indeed, and I suspect there is other data they have seen that the internet doesn’t necessarily have access to.

Exactly that - they've forgotten to multiply the final data point by a Ferguson.

Schoolboy error.
