The way you choose to view the EU is entirely up to you.
I was just trying to explain why they are present at the summit.
The G7 evidently don't share the disdain you have, but maybe they'll catch up soon.

I mentioned on the Brexit thread but they've been at G7 summits for a couple of decades it's not just this one.

Well at least the thread is being spared the photos of Boris doing his live action reimagining of Moby Dick.

Explain not really, you wrote what everybody knows, they are invited to participate.

Well done for trying to paint me with that emotion, wrong, but get a comment in early to create a narrative because of the slave acceptance of politics ignore any debate, just send your feelings as fact.

Lifeguards everywhere watching that thinking there's our typical middle aged man on his rare visit to the beach pretending he's on whilst bay watch.

What's actually happening is he's putting a massive amount of effort into not actually going forwards , they'll be waiting for him to get caught in a rip get sucked out and needing rescuing because he's exhausted and you can't actually swim back against the rip tide.

I wonder what the carbon footprint of this little get together will be?
Doesn't matter. You driving your fossil fuel powered car and using a gas boiler in your home is the issue.

(You may not do either. Just an example hehe )
Yes I do have a fossil fuelled car and a gas boiler but the point is , I’m not telling the world not to use theirs while I turn mine up to 11.
What’s wrong with video conferencing for those things especially with Covid? At least people might think they are serious rather than taking the p1ss with their private jets etc
Or even if they *have* to meet in person they not could host it on an airbase somewhere like mildenhall with all the facilities and security they need on site? Fly in fly out, Bunk down in the dorms, keep an eye on the Chinese, jobs a good'un

Damn right. It's inconceivable that there wasn't a meeting where someone said "guys, maybe this year we do it on zoom, forego the free booze, get the pictures in the press... Great PR, it's only one year, back to normal next". Then the rest said "no, bks. fk the optics, fk the peasants. Let's party!!"

Like I said earlier... s.

A complete waste of time
Only thing I took from it is that its really OK to mingle with people so long as you keep the plebs masked up

Looked all quite relaxed from the bits I saw on tv.

Certainly not as stuffy as years gone by.

Looked and sounded like a Chinook, it had twin rotors/blades.

I'm sure Australians are impressed with their Prime Prick-ster swanning off to Cornwall and back while they are trapped at home or abroad. No doubt all of them will be quarantining when they get back from their little "holiday" as well.

Apparently locals have been told not to gather to watch the Red Arrows because of COVID restriction....
Watched the Red Arrows from the velux window in my upstairs bathroom - take off from Culdrose, then fly along the coast to Penzance. Just flying in formation, no aerobatics at that point, but still quite impressive

A total thread diversion but…how do you pronounce Iroquois”? Is it a Native American tribe or something? Thanks!!

HMS PWLS is loitering in the area. She's been having loads of Chinook visitors from RAF Odiham recently.

Just googled the Bell "Huey" UH-1 Iroquois and it has a single rotor and the chinook obviously has the two.

So would be hard to mistake one for the other.
