MT09/Z900.. other?
Discussion
Currently have a 2020 ZX10R road bike but I am not enjoying riding it at all on the road. Probably picked up another 3 points today at indicated 80 which isn't much above tick over. (I had one a couple months ago for 79 in a 70)
Previous bikes ZZR1400, Hayabusa Gen.2, ZX10R Gen. 3.
Thinking about a total change of bike. Any thoughts on Z900 or MT09? Or something else?

Watching with interest as in a similar train of thought myself. I personally am favouring a 1050 Speed Triple, tried a couple over the last few years and love them. I did also try a friend's MT09 and while it was good, the whole thing appeared to be made of cheese and flexed like anything when pushing hard in corners. I expect the SP version would be better. Also the throttle response was very snatchy in the sport mode. Lovely engine though.

The Mk 3 2021 model? I don’t think so! robinh73 said:

The SP was no better, I had one Lee540 said:
What are modern adventure bikes like? Jumping off a sports bike.
I have occassionally riden a 2019 Versys 1000 but although nice enough to ride I'm not taken on the looks.
They are great, I reckon a Tiger 900 or Tracer 9 will be my next bike, I've gradually moved away from sportsbikes over the years, via nakeds and sport-tourers and I think an ADV bike is next on the cards for me, I think the GS1250's and the like are overkill but bikes like the Tiger is where its at, in my opinion anyway, ultimate speed is long way down my list of priorities for a bike now as you simply can't use or enjoy the ridiculous performance.I have occassionally riden a 2019 Versys 1000 but although nice enough to ride I'm not taken on the looks.

I went from a sportsbike to a 2009 1050 Speed Triple (end of the round headlights) and I genuinely have never had so much fun on a bike. Its great whether riding fast or slow, its really brought back the joy of motorcycling for me. With sportsbikes I just found myself wanting to ride flat out all the time, but the torque and noise of the triple bring out a totally different mentality hucumber said:

It was totally pointless, way too fast and simply didn't make sense. The Speed Triple however was the polar opposite, it made perfect sense!

Decided to take a look at the Suzuki 1050XT. Love the classic DR Big looks. Local dealer has a couple in stock and a demo which I'm going to try and get out on.
Before you sign definitely try the Tiger 900 and the BMW F850GS too. Despite the CC difference they’re in the same class, ‘middleweight’ adventure bike. TT1138 said:

Cheers, I took the Suzuki out and really enjoyed it. I'm going to try Africa Twin as well, ran out of time today and possibly the Multistrada 950. All from same dealer. Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
