I'd like a plug that can activate what is plugged into automatically, with the intent of cooling, based on a set temperature.

I would also like to be able to both see the current temperature remotely, and when it activates/deactivates the device (so I can track how long it's ran for).

I've seen the first requirement for heaters, (which therefore may not work for cooling as it goes the wrong way), but nothing on the second. Reading Amazon pages is driving me crazy.

Does anyone know of anything please?

Might be worth describing the use you want to put it too as well.

Sure,

Turn a fan on when it gets too hot, then turn it off when it cools down. (I know the fan itself won't cool the air).

Here’s a ‘smart fan’ that nearly fits the bill

And a smart plug that might work for you

Half the price of the one above, I can honestly say they are very reliable. I have been using sonoff products for 3 years now with no issues.

Should have said I already have the fan itself.

That one looks good, and £20 delivered seems reasonable. I'll give it a whirl thanks.

Ah, ok - wasn’t sure if you had the fan already!

The Sonoff one looks like it will work for you. Presume the black box shown on the Amazon link from Sonoff’s page is the actual sensor and you then hide the white box away somewhere?

the black box is the sensor.. It just plugs in the side.

shame you've got a fan

My wife bought me one of these https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/home-appliances/heat...

its temperature reactive- you can leave it on all the time and it turns on and rumps up and down as the temperature moves.

It's also genuinely silent whilst pushing a LOT of air
