Nice line.

"You might think that knowing things like “how many voters are there” is generally taken for granted in most elections outside of Pyongyang, "

Sturgeon hinted again today that she thought investing in the yard was the right thing to do to maintain shipbuilding on the Clyde, but I can't see how any sane business requiring a ship to be built in the future would choose Ferguson Marine.

If you want an extension built the first question you ask the builder is to have a look at examples of their previous work... in this case it's not as if Fergusons can hide this debacle from prospective clients.
Tenders for shipbuilding contracts usually ask for previous examples of the yard's work as well......

They'll be angling for the next Calmac contract, which is the small vessel replacement program, but need the present boats out of the way for space to build them. Whether the Scottish Government will force CMAL/Calmac to use Ferguson's for this contract remains to be seen, but the only commercial work they have won recently has been to make bits for the Type 26 frigates, mainly by virtue of every other yard not having the capacity to do the work. Nobody else will touch them, and I don't see that changing.

It’s not SNP bad news, it’s bad news for the people of Scotland, and in this case particularly the island communities. Glad you find it funny.
They were due new ships a decade ago; fleet replacement was behind schedule even then, it just wasn't showing up in excess breakdowns and raised maintenance costs. It's a colossal failure of govt.

Unfortunately a lot of the island communities vote for them.

Am I too quick?
Well, if they can stretch a £90m tender to £300m, I'm pretty sure they'll manage to find a few hundred thousand votes for Humza out of 72 thousand voters!

Too many umms but I have to imagine it would be a huge pleasure to be told off in person by Penny the Hair. She’s lovely. Especially when she’s not cross, just disappointed.

It's the way she does without any hint of smugness that you normally get when a politician trys to deliver such lines.

Bot even bits apparently. The Audit Scotland/Grant Thornton audit reports published this week said so far the only work with BAE has been to lend 18 staff members to work at the BAE yard.

I love her intonation on the last two words. The contempt is clear. She's knows there's nothing of merit there.

She’s very good at the dispatch box. Her shot at leadership however revealed a lack of policy depth and arguably not much political nous. Both could change if she could build a team around her.

It would certainly be a departure from the gurners extraordinaire Truss and May.

She would have been my vote too but that may be a blessing in disguise when Rishi is trounced next year.
