Introversion/extraversion is basically about whether you get gratification from within or without. Introverts are 'deenergised' by public/social interactions and need time alone to 'recharge' while extroverts sag when alone and thrive off interaction.

Obviously that does often map to introverts being more solitary, reflective and cerebral and extroverts more gregarious, impulsive and talkative. But introversion is absolutely not the same thing as shyness (a fear of social encounters) and doesn't have anything to do with a desire for, or capability of leadership.
This - any psychology work or vaguely scientific personality-based studies would use this definition.

A few folk need to look up the definition of introvert - it has nothing to do with being shy, or having social anxiety.
Best tell wee krankie she's got that wrong too. Something else to add to the list. smile
I’m not generally on this thread to apologise for Sturgeon, but having just watched the interview I’m not sure she did get it wrong.

I can happily say I haven't listened to the interview. Heard enough of her the last 8 years.

More of the me, me,me. Step down then immediately do a TV tour and podcast. If I never hear her dulcet tones again I'll be quite happy.

Not really - the first bit perhaps.

Agreed. I'm an introvert (as defined by MBTI) but not a shy person. If anything I can be quite outspoken and vocal about stuff. I just don't particularly like large social/work meetings. I prefer to work alone and get stuff done.

Once I understood introversion it was easier to change my career path to do something that played to those strengths.

Dissent in the ranks …

…. former SNP minister Fergus Ewing branded the party's coalition partners "fringe extremists".

….. a separate report said 15 backbench MSPs wanted to "reset" SNP relations with the business sector…..

I posted a while back that the SNP were the party that thought 16 year olds were mature enough to vote but anyone under 25 wasn't mature enough to go to jail.

These new guidelines that prioritise the rehabilitation of the criminal before punishment may explain why a man who when 17 raped a 13 year old was sentenced to community service.

I was shocked when I read of the case, this morning.

Talk about fking shambles - that sentence is the equivalent of a slight telling-off for being too loud in the library.

Snap, not listened to her since the GRR farce, channel gets changed when she comes on. Ditto Useless now: no point listening to an idiot.

Politicians depend upon social interaction though, so I find it very hard to reconcile the idea that Nicola Sturgeon is introverted. For that reason I call BS. Narcissism, on the other hand, I'd say she hits the bull.

Can't get my head around that, who's the fruitcake who thinks telling 17yo's if they rape a child they'll get little more punishment than a shoplifter? In what planet does a 21yo who smokes a few spliffs, pops some pills and takes a good swally get allowed to use that as a defence? Three years supervision and six weeks community service for lifetime damage to another person.

I found this quite prescient:

Jamie Green MSP in 2022 said:
I think that many victims of crime will be quite worried and concerned about the sort of language that we are using here, especially those who have been the victims of, for example, gender-based violence or sexual crimes, wondering why on earth 24-year-olds will have a shorter sentence than someone who is just a few months older.

This arbitrary line in the sand that has been drawn will, I think, be contentious.
I hope the sentence is reviewed and victim impact and punishment for the crime is suitably considered.

Seems the imbeciles on the council are pressing ahead with the 30mph on the M8 nonsense

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-wes...

As previously noted, the legislation “temporarily” exists to do this during the current Woodside Viaduct roadworks, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if this “experimentally” happens. Not sure how they’d incorporate it into the LEZ unless they gave a permanent undertaking to exempt the M74 and the stretch from Tradeston westwards.

The road doesn't belong to them (it belongs to Transport Scotland) so they have zero powers to influence this. Rank this one alongside councils passing motions to stop war in Ukraine.

Don't see the problem anyway. Traffic noise and pollution are more of a problem on Hope St etc than North St beside the M8. In Hope St vehicles are 10 feet away from pedestrians and buildings. North St they are 60 ft away and in a trench.

Seems the LEZ, or the preparations for it, might actually have sorted a lot of the problems in Hope Street, though I always thought it was a bit exaggerated by the air quality monitoring station being right next to a taxi rank where knackered diesel taxis sat idling on cold days. Anyway, unsurprisingly, replacing hundreds of Euro 2/3/4 buses with battery powered vehicles and upgrading the rest to Euro 6, along with pushing the taxis to Euro 6 does appear to have cut pollution. Who’d have thought? Clearly old cars in the city centre were the problem all along.
