Interesting subject on Radio Scotland today. At present some biodegradable waste goes to landfill. The SNP are banning this from 2025. One way of dealing with it is burning it in plants which use the heat to generate electricity. The SNP (Gardening branch) minister Lorna Slater announced today they are also banning any more of these plants.

One prediction is that when the Scottish landfill ban comes into effect the result will be Scottish wastebeing trucked to landfill in England where the landfill tax paid for each ton will benefit England.

If you can't landfill it here and there isn't enough incinerator capacity there is no other option than to export it. Which as well as the cost of landfill tax will generate thousands of extra HGV miles trucking the waste over the border. Green not.

I would assume they will barge it down the coast if that ever happens.
More likely will be the current plants allowed to expand to meet capacity or the snp plan on not needing a green coalition in the next election and can ignore this idocy.

Also it will all be the land of milk and honey by then because indy ref 2 will make us an independejt state in 2023 winkrofl

here's an idea - just put the new incinerators in the new ferries to generate the energy needed to run them - cancel all that LPG being trucked up from southern england port , through the uk up to scotland to fill tanks for the ferries.

its a sound idea

throw at least £600million at it, 15 civil servants, a £1500 p/hour consultant who happens to be an SNP supporter.

then blame Westminster for any issues

no media will every really examine the idea in any detail.....

job (not) done

I misread that as an independeejit state

In other news, days after the election the SNP stop evening meals for the homelessin Glasgow. The new caring Scotland. If a Tory council had done this it would be front page stuff and leading on BBC news.

"An SNP MP found guilty of sexual harassment was put on “conduct training” four years ago over the same incident and kept his job as Chief Whip."

And you can also throw all the records documenting the mismanagement of their procurement into the shiny new incinerators. A perfect circular economy!!

If NuScot exists, the English aren't going to want all the filthy Scottish waste. We could have much fun forcing the barges back at the new hard border! biggrin

does Trump claim some scottish heritage - maybe he might become next FM.... he's already bought his way into Golf resorts, hotels, and the destruction of protected nature reserves that Scottish Natural Heritage (now renamed) and various other bodies warned (and resigned over) the then SNP government about - but hey, a wave of the hand, and cash in the pocket and everything will be fine.

but corruption and mismanagement only occur at Westminster according to NS

Can't we use the one built by Tony rather than Adrian?
Then my house might be on the right side of the wall.

Could you imagine the REEEing from the nationalists and assorted leftist virtue signallers that inhabit the independence echo chambers on Twitter and Reddit if Bad Orange Man chose to enter Scottish politics? It would be hilarious, and well worth the policy decisions for the entertainment value.

i can imagine a wall across england, a gas pipe to russia (secured using a company his son runs) , the creation of SFBI (Scottish FBI) and SCIA (you get that one) and of course a proposed bridge across the ocean to USA to make it a 51st state.

and we'll all use the $

no EU joining would be on the cards thats for sure.

actually sounds like what a lot of hardline nat's might want! gulp!

Why did it take them so long to figure out they could just make the email in MS Paint?
