For me, sport doesn't have to have separate mens and womens events unless it's for health and safety reasons or there's a significant competitive aspect. Even at, for instance, club tennis level it's better to have a men's event and a women's event because that doubles the number of people who can enjoy competing for a top prize.
I don't think it makes sense without the health and safety or fairness reasons. Otherwise, if it's about representation, maybe we should have a white men's 100m...A500leroy said:
This all goes back to my point on another thread, why does sport have to have mens and womens games, why not mixed?
In a workplace you wouldnt have genders doing the same job split into gender specific teams would you?
But you know the answer to this?In a workplace you wouldnt have genders doing the same job split into gender specific teams would you?
Men are stronger, faster, bigger etc so women wouldn't have a chance in any sport that involves speed, strength, combat etc.
There is a huge, rising surge in men identifying as women. If these people enter female spaces in sport in numbers - it will leave people born female unable to compete with their ability.
Some want to stop this on the basis of biology.
Others challenge this on the basis of feelings.

I also hope it turns out to be a fuss over nothing and as I've said before, I feel quite uncomfortable being on the side of those people who aren't seen as supportive of trans-rights. All the best to you.
This is a very telling summary.Basically - you know it's wrong/unfair that people born male are competing against women, but you're uncomfortable about being on the 'wrong side'.
That's the problem. Because there are racist, homophobic idiots out there, the extremists are trying to attach logical, rational fact based opinions to those views, and somehow suggesting it's transphobic of you to have these views.
Zedleg basically said it himself. He feels the trans-community is under attack so he wants to win this battle.
He is so agenda driven, he'd destroy women's sport so a small group of homophobes don't 'win' - letting women (and common sense) lose massively and putting women in extreme physical danger. This is before we even mention letting male born sex offenders identify as females and going into captivity with women.
It's absolutely killing the left. It's the reason The Conservatives are in power and can behave like they do, and only one left wing politician has won a General Election in 50 years and that was B;air (who was accused of being too centre).
People are worried they'll listen to extremists like this.

In that scenario women wouldn't get a look in. The Williams sisters wouldn't even be in the top 200 tennis players. In a workplace you wouldnt have genders doing the same job split into gender specific teams would you?
As a woman it wouldn't even be worth considering a career in sports.

During the 1998 Australian Open, both Williams sisters claimed that they could beat any male player ranked lower than 200.
Karsten Braasch (Who?) - ranked 203 at the time, took up their challenge and won the set against Serena Williams 6-1 & the set against Venus Williams with 6-2.
The Men's fastest serve is recorded at: 163.4 mph
The Woman's fastest serve is recorded at: 136.7 mph
As I said earlier in the thread, even letting mediocre male athletes compete in women's sport would destroy it. The evidence is overwhelming throughout history and it's unbelievable that some people are so blinkered by their ideology to acknowledge this.

Either way it shows how even the very best women players wouldn't figure in professional sport.

That's why I said 200. There is actual evidence.

Of course, my reply was meant in agreement. I just wanted to expand on what you said for those of us who need a bit more help in digesting factual information. Either way it shows how even the very best women players wouldn't figure in professional sport.

Women throwers in athletics throw the same weight implements as under 15 year old boys. ie 4k shot and hammer, 1k discus. Either way it shows how even the very best women players wouldn't figure in professional sport.
Men use 7.26 K shot and hammer, 2K discus.

That is absolutely sick. Where are the adults when we need this stopped? But seeing transgender adults beating girls like this is going to harm any sport that it happens in, especially at grass roots level. If we want more girls to plays sports and be active we need more women role models (hence W Series motor racing, etc.) but what young girl is going to look at a podium of 3 trans women and decide to take up that sport?
Or the school where if boys are too hot in summer they are allowed to wear skirts but not shorts.

It is horrible. I have sympathy with people like Lia Thomas who train hard at a sport, decide she wants to live her life as a woman but cannot compete in the sport that was a massive part of her life because she was born a man. I get it and I don't know what the answer is (competing against women who were born women cannot be the answer).

The media is full of Lia Thomas type sob stories. It’s not full of the much bigger numbers of nobody girls who haven’t made it because they’ve got no chance or didn’t bother trying because it’s not worth bothering. Those numbers are much bigger. But seeing transgender adults beating girls like this is going to harm any sport that it happens in, especially at grass roots level. Trans people compete against other trans people.

Daft - all they have to do is say that anyone can wear a skirt, shorts or trousers. Solves the problem and is inclusive.https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/school-boys-skirts/
I don't quite get a couple of the comments though. "It's absolutely...21st century but this is going one step too far." No, it's not actually very modern or progressive at all is it? It's just people getting in a muddle about their out of date rules.
And the thing about having a same sex toilet? Not only having same sex toilets but one same sex toilet. Who cares?
