Surely it's easier to let them chat amongst themselves. It is unlikely that they will ever be reconciled with a pragmatic standpoint so if this forum helps them in some way, maybe that's not a bad thing.

There will be some venues that they will not be able to attend, maybe some Countries they will not visit or activities in which they cannot partake. Their choice.

It seems the economy is recovering which has to be good and employment percentage remains robust.
Lets just ignore inflation and shortages shall we?

Money, it's all about money. Much as much as you can whilst the taps are open! And try to engineer a way to keep those taps open and maintain the transfer of public funds into private hands, much like the GFC.

She missed the bit about ‘don’t ask questions’:

Letitia Wright denies airing anti-vaccine views on Black Panther 2 set

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-5891...

Interesting bit towards the end of the article:

“ The industry publication said Disney, which owns Marvel, is introducing a system this month where people in a production's main zone who have been vaccinated will wear a yellow wristband, and those who have not will not have one.”

Yellow bands to differentiate people based on jab choice?

There is much discussion in another thread in relation to shortages or the extent thereof.

Apparently the Government has accepted it's partly due to the B word.

When labour resource is restricted and wages rise without consequent efficiency growth inflation will result.

Part of these is consequent on a certain vote in 2016 and some due to Covid.

Does posting here help you?

76 days takes us to just after Christmas.

If we get a lockdown as I am expecting we'll be on vol 16 before Christmas.

A new graph for a new volume

Cases per 100k tests and Deaths within 28 Days have been running at higher levels in summer 2021 than they did last year. Because of Delta and the 'exit wave' triggered by the removal of all domestic restrictions (at least in England).

However, we have now reached the point where seasonality began to drive growth in 2020

The dotted lines are 2020 and the solid ones are 2021. Right now 2020 looks worse. The big question is what happens next:

So, basically, I was right. Shortages and inflation are real, so the economy isn't some sunny uplands the way you intimated.

Thanks for confirming.

Why yellow?

Surely it should be green or even better, red for those who haven’t had the jab.

Sarcasm mode off!

YouTube removed Davis’ speech, filmed at a conference fringe event held by Big Brother Watch, for violating its policy on “medical misinformation” but did not specify what content had breached the rules. In a notification email to Big Brother Watch, the platform said: “YouTube doesn’t allow claims about COVID-19 vaccinations that contradict expert consensus from local health authorities or the World Health Organization (WHO).”

In other words, if you don’t tow the line you get censored.

I don't think the lockdown is a tool left in the Government arsenal any more - IMO the last one was a lockdown in name only and very few people followed it apart from non essential retail and pubs clubs and resturants

Talk to actual people in the sectors that are suffering shortages post B-word. Most of the issues are that since the late 90s to early 00s, wages have either been driven down or stayed stagnant due to a nice pool of cheap labour. That pool is drying up since B-word, the people left are either not willing or actually can't afford to work for the conditions and remunerations being offered.

Maybe, it would be an idea for some of the employers involved to actually pay a decent wage - would potentially even attract a better quality of candidate. Wins all around.

Inflation is pretty rampant, the cost of a weekly shop is (at least) 50% higher than it was for my family this time last year.

I hope this is the last volume for this thread, because it would mean our politicians have actually realised the virus is endemic, the vulnerable are protected and there is very little reason to keep any restrictions on people.

Alas...

Do we get any prizes for that? hehe

I’m more concerned about general excess deaths this year, I think we are on course to surpass last years total deaths. I don’t think we can ignore that lockdowns and possibly vaccinations will have played a part there. These graphs make us feel like Covid is “under control”, but personally I think health wise we are just beginning, and there is a long way to go yet before we can conclude any measures including vaccinations have had a positive effect.

Shareholders in Pfizer for one! Less so for Moderna and Astra Zeneca... Those people in governments where they have declared Emergency Powers and essentially have dictatorial control. The "Scientists" who have been thrust in to the limelight and are now getting mainstream TV slots on talk shows etc.

Can tell you who isn't benefitting from any of this nonsense though, regular people!

The last one was an economic lockdown for everyone but Amazon and pharmaceutical companies.

The question is of course, who is controlling the media then? YouTube is owned by Google which in turn is owned by Alphabet. Two of the big fund managers have shares with Vanguard having 6% although the founders still have the controlling votes .

Maybe something like this:

“Hi Mr youtube, HMG calling, you know how you are not regulated by OFCOM or anyone else in the uk? You know how your tax treatment means you dont pay much tax at all here? Would you like that to continue? Yes you say? Ok, I’m sure we can work out a way for that to continue.”

Same goes for fb and any other platform.

The shareholders for the most part - and all the senior mgmt will have a load of shares as part of the packages, they'll be happy with anything to boost share price, and get those dividends paying out.

At €18.50 a shot for the Pfizer jab, why bother selling to poor countries which can't afford that? Just flog it to the rich ones over and over again.
