He was a massive crook. His daughter likewise.

Did any of you see that documentary program last night about Robert Maxwell? I was surprised to see they were related, I hadn't seen that in the papers.

That settles it. There is no way you are for real.
I don't see your point however I honestly did not read that at all. I was aware however of Robert maxwell and his shenanigans a long time ago. I only ever knew of the two sons who had to deal with the fall out. The only things I read about ghislaine was she was with epstein and he was chummy with prince andrew.

Walrus is obviously not that well informed about many things.

Were you not aware of the name of the yacht from which he disappeared in 1991?

Nor the pension funds he stole from the print workers. He left my father in law having to work late in life rather than enjoying the retirement he thought he'd paid for.

Nope. I generally don't read 30 year old news.

The trial was only a few months ago and it's still in the news now.

Not a history fan then either ("history" is just "old news").

I like it when I’ve forgotten all about her then the occasional thread bump reminds me she’s still in jail. Her sentence is due on 28th June. I expect that eventually her lawyers will wangle a new trial so all the time she spends in jail in the meantime is good.

This disregard for history by people who should know better is why we're all in the st right now.

100% agree. Those who forget history are condemned to relive it.

Although, of course, the sons knew absolutely nothing about what the supposedly lonesome crook was up to. Kevin went bankrupt to the tune of £400,000,000. I'm not sure that's the definition of success in business.

Bankrupted twice but also disqualified from being a director...

Maxwells nickname was Captain Crook, and that was before he stole £750m from the employes pension fund. His wife said he was “harsh, cruel, uncompromising, dictatorial … [taking] a sadistic pleasure in crushing and humiliating” the people closest to him. Which some could explain why Ghislaine was attracted to Epstein.

Maxwell’s son Ian, who said he was “exhilarated to be free of this extraordinary alpha male presence in my life and at the same time incredibly scared as to what the future would look like without him.”

His death mocked at the end of tomorrow never dies...

The yacht -

The boat Mossad gave him swimming lessons from.

Ghislaine is going to have to start to make some very quick decisions - as of the 28th April she’d have been incarcerated for a year, and in fairness to her I’m surprised she survived that long. She’s got two options - start squawking and comes out within the decade at a still relatively young sub 70 but with a very large target on her back, or stay quiet and die inside - probably sub 10 years also.

Surely her ‘squawking’ will just be her throwing stones with no actual evidence ?

Didn’t the video tapes of it all go missing ?

The post was talking about the ship Robert Maxwell committed suicide on, not Ghislane.

And I was referring to the fact her trial is more or less current news, not 30 years old.

Well then your 'reference' clearly has no place in the comment on this... Discussing what happened with Robert and Ghislaine are two different issues entirely.

Robert Maxwell was the man who saved the Daily Mirror.
