Doesn't change the point which is junior staff feeling they're paying the price for attending events that senior staff organised and also attended but weren't fined for.

No big deal when all your time is spent on PH anyway.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade but if Sue Gray thought for a nano-second that a meeting with the PM was wrong or inappropriate she would not have attended. She held all the cards.
Nope. She must be bent. She's in on it. It's outrageous.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Nevermind that the first civil servant appointed to investigate had actually organised one of the parties.

Work those tongues, lick harder!rofl

The irony is that all of those people are free to apply for posts in any other government department and will be pretty much first choice to get them because of their general working experience. Having been put in such an awkward situation by the seniors I'm sure many of them will. I appreciate this was a police investigation but the issue of who takes responsibility when things go wrong is completely contrary to normal civil service best practice.

(Notwithstanding the fact that there wont actually be that many civil service posts advertised for a while.)

Watching Nadhim twist and turn and avoid the question is excruciating.

He'd defend the PM no matter what, shameful behaviour and the nation deserves better...

He’s probably not a fan but just adding balance or simply sees a different read to the stories laugh

Didn't see the interview but I actually quite rated Zahawi when he was on the vaccine rollout.

Now I see him in interviews and he's just another one who's been forced to set fire to any shred of dignity he might have once had to add balance defend Johnson.

Sad seeing it really as he's one of the few you'd like to see doing something in Government v just being wheeled out to defend the indefensible.

At least it’s his job and he’s getting paid for it. Murph and co do it for nothing. laughwink

Next conservative leader betting odds have changed a bit since last time I looked. . . Sunak’s dropped down the batting order. Truss still popular with bookies though. Surprised Hunt’s consistently so high, thought he’d burned his bridges a while ago, maybe he’s managed to avoid being too close to bojo?

I’d probably be happy with any of them replacing Boris, except Gove. Can’t see Raab getting a go, think he’s might be collateral damage when Boris (eventually) goes.

Said it before but it's strange to me that anyone feels that obligated to any political party but ideologies are funny things.

Good that Hunt is up there in the ratings.

I'm not sure he's got any of the taint of Johnson around him has he given he's not been given a cabinet post and far as I know he hasn't been wheeled out to "do a Shapps" on a regular basis?

Well if you believe in a small state and free market then your right of centre.

There is only 1 party that is centre centre right so you have to vote for Tory else you’d be voting for parties that have different views entirely in this.

It's the "obligated" part that beats me Welsh.

People on here seem so wed to their team that they find themselves defending some proper messed up stuff just because their lot did it.

I'll never get my head round that.

He has a taint all of his own.

But it’s the if they are right of. Enter not voting to send a message but then let another party in.

The same Hunt who forgot where his own wife was from? The one who posted a picture of himself standing in front of a list of confidential patient info? He is another consistent MP, a consistent fk up! It's only recently he has taken a few 'brave' stands, wonder why, mmmmm? Typical self serving politician trying to fulfill his own agenda and climb to the top.

Hunt always seems to have the same response. hehe

I wonder why bookies have him so high? I can’t see the conservative members selecting him either tbh.

And that was absolutely appalling.

When you consider that it's only a short while back that the Conservative membership were very keen on Priti Patel and various other aholes to take over from Johnson I expect a lot of people would see Hunt as better than some of the alternatives on offer.

Hunt v Patel or Truss is different to Hunt v Wallace or Mordaunt or Tugendhat.

I don’t think Patel has even been high in any odds or polls to replace Boris?

I thought at one point she was pretty much top of the approval ratings from the party membership over on Conservativehome wasn't she?

Not bookies or public odds but the membership are the ones that count.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure she was.

Rightly or wrongly, I don’t see Johnson going anywhere now. I think the calculations have now been made.

Those that already disliked him were suitably incandescent at the partygate revelations.

Those that find him the least-worst option are more likely not to be that bothered about it.

And the more the opposition continue to fulminate about ancient beer and cake, the more likely they are to alienate such people.
