They seem to be saying something different (on this part - which was second hand reporting), and willing to testify:

"Since Ms Hutchinson's testimony, a source close to the Secret Service has told CBS News that both the agent and driver travelling in the car with Mr Trump were willing to testify under oath that the former president did not physically attack either of them and never attempted to grab the steering wheel."

Tony Ornato also figures in the stuff about preventing Pence from ratifying the votes.

Some comments online that "he couldn't possibly do this in "the Beast" due to design, it seems that he was in an SUV for this journey.

Best quote of the day, from another (US) forum referencing Trump in the Beast...

"Dude could have become an American hero that day by dragging that fat fking tangerine by his ankles out of the presidential limo and beating him to death with the 50 lbs trashbag of empty McDonald’s cartons and adult diapers that was consistently left in the back seat during those years."

LOL

trumps response to yesterday was to release a frantic and somewhat incoherent statement in which he claims he barely even knows who Cassidy Hutchinson is, and then goes on to claim she’s seeking revenge because he wouldn’t take her to Florida with him.

I've been listening to "All the Presidents Men" and watching the Watergate documentaries.

Trump reminds me of Nixon.

Seems to me that the difference is that GOP persuaded Nixon to go. Not so with Trump.

True, but Nixon was near the start of his term, so maybe the GOP thought they could rescue their image ahead of 1977.

I think it was more likely that fewer GOP members were directly involved with Nixons misdemeanours, so could act on him without looking hypocritical.

There's a sizeable chunk of the GOP directly involved with trumps attempt, and the rest that don't seem to care that what he was doing was illegal (as long as they could maintain power). There are only a handful that openly denounce him, and they are slowly being pushed out of the party by the others.

As predicted deep in vol.1, trump has destroyed the GOP, and they deserve it.

Good points Vaud and Tangerine. It could also be that Trump having opened the box of Nazi's, some of the GOP are too scared to not support him.

It's a mix.
The trouble is that many took the money from the NRA in 2016 that was funnelled from the russians.. many decided power at any cost, because they make a fortune from it.

Many are now frightened of trumps revenge, he always lashes out at those he thinks are unfaithful... and then there's those who fully engaged with trumps election fraud to stay in power.

Those that had morals, or saw the way it was going decided not to stand in 2020.
Others are out for the midterms, Cawthorn, Brooks etc. Boebarts just won her primary, in fact look no further as to how much money can be made. From skint and allegedly spending campaign money through faked expenses to pay her tax bill, to now being worth $24m in just 18 months...

trumps problems continue as Alex Holder has been contacted by the Fulton County District Attorney's office about his potential cooperation with the grand jury investigating the Georgia pressure campaign to overturn the 2020 election.

Those celebratory documentaries they wanted to record their 'victory' are coming back to haunt them...

Tony Ornato also figures in the stuff about preventing Pence from ratifying the votes.

A source close to the Secret Service says both men dispute Trump grabbed the steering wheel or assaulted an agent. They do not deny that Trump was irate and demanded they drive to the Capitol Hutchinson testified that there were discussions she witnessed between Meadows and Scott Perry, and Meadows and Giuliani about trump holding a second speech on Jan. 6 at the Capitol

The best response to all this comes from the 6 Jan Committee - put your money where your mouth is!
"The Select Committee found Ms. Hutchinson's testimony to be credible. The committee welcomes anyone who wishes to provide additional information under oath."

Edit: I'm reminded that trump aide John McEntee was one of the people put forward for a pardon....Kimberly Guilfoyle was another

That witness intimidation sent to Hutchinson:

"What they said to me is as long as I continue to be a team player, they know that I'm on the team, I'm doing the right thing, I'm protecting who I need to protect, you know, I'll continue to stay in the good graces in Trump world," read one text message disclosed by Cheney. "And they have reminded me a couple of times that Trump does read transcripts and just keep that in mind as I proceed through my depositions and interviews with the committee."

and a phone call

"A person let me know you have your deposition tomorrow," the caller said, according to Cheney. "He wants me to let you know that he's thinking about you. He knows you're loyal, and you're going to do the right thing when you go in for your deposition."

No wonder Hutchinson dumped her trump connected lawyer

Quick round up of the news

Melania's former friend Stephanie Grisham claims Melania knew ahead of time trump was planning violence and that reports of trumps tantrums were true...

The most important part of yesterdays testimony was trump saying to let the armed mob in, they weren't there to hurt him...

I've read tons of books on the subject. Goldwater was the one who took a stand and at that point Nixon knew the game was up.

There are many similarities, Nixon initially denied knowing John Dean very well until several dozen tapes of their conversations emerged.

There simply is no current GOP Senator with the courage that this young lady displayed, that is the glaring difference. They are in fear of the cult.

That's it, isn't it? Where are their equivalent of the barons who stood up to King John? Where is their Oliver Cromwell? Where is the new George Washington?

He insulted Ted Cruz's wife and father in quite a nasty way in 2016. Cruz has been an utter lapdog ever since and also risked being charged with conspiracy to block the electroral count on Jan 6th. Complete cowardice and fear.

If they had any morality at all the sight of a young lady testifying who will probably get death threats for the next ten years might teach them something but I wouldn't expect anything from that lot!
