Opticians were, and assume are, exempt from mask rules.
What do you mean by rules?
What is really funny is dentists! My friend runs some but he hates masks himself. They are telling people wear them but then of course you need to take it off only when on the chair. Jokers.

Poorly worded on my part. During the shop = mask period opticians were exempt. Nothing has happened since to make them otherwise, AFAIK.

Thats the one that annoys me the most. They are the strictest around here. Doors locked. Buzzer to get in. Can only get in when the other person leaves.. MASK MASK! Or the woman won't let you in. Yet in 2 minutes time iv got them water spraying my mouth, drilling and cleaning my teeth. Absoloute pointless using a mask.

I’d be looking for a new dentist. Mine isn’t working that way.

Private businesses are doing their own thing - mine is back to normal but my parent’s still only use manual tools.

The fact is there no longer any mask laws in England.

Quite, but even when there were opticians were exempt.

I know - I was only stating that as you posted that opticians ARE exempt.

I think we’re in fierce agreement smile

You're correct. In December 2021, for example, when Omicron infections were surging, the law said you must wear a mask in a shop. The same law also specifically said you did NOT have to wear a mask in a healthcare setting, such as an opticians.

Now, with covid effectively over, the law says you don't need to wear a mask anywhere, full stop. And yet the NHS, GP's, some opticians and some dentists are going out of their way to convince us that masks are 'mandatory', which many folk assume means 'required by law' when they aren't and weren't.

Does the law really say anything of the kind about masks now? It didn't mention them pre-covid.

All mask mandates (law) have been removed in England.

Quite. Which is different to what was said.
There's no law saying you have to wear one.
There's no law saying you have the right not to wear one anywhere.

Do any laws give you the right not to do something you don’t want to do?

Edit: re-read the above and see what you mean smile

No idea what point you think you're making.
If I'm wrong, tell me why.
This is wrong, isn't it?

How does the mask nonsense work with staff? My wife is fed up having to wear one every day, and would love to politely tell the powers that be at the hospice where she works to go forth on the mask mandate!
National Employees Union are pushing to get rid of masks in healthcare settings. They were supportive of healthcare staff through the injection mandate nonsense.

It’s quite easy to misread something and, as PH shows many times, end up arguing when there’s no disagreement.

Luckily I spotted my mistake early!
