BTW, nobody seeing someone getting all stampy feet and refusing to wear a mask thinks “there’s someone with balls”, quite the opposite in fact.
Why are you trying to conflate someone politely saying 'no' to the mask theatre with 'stampy feet'? Why are you then trying to shame them?
And the one I'm really interested in, why do you love the masks so much that you go to this much effort?

You're absolutely right, but I am genuinely curious about these people who still love the masks and get upset at anyone pointing out that they clearly don't work and never have. I guess it's a comfort blanket thing, but I'd love to know.
People do strange things at a personal level and have their own fears and foibles.garyhun said:

Ignore!!!!
Mrs BC and I are cruising on the Seabourn Ovation. There’s been no requirement for us but the crew were required to wear masks. That ruling ended at midnight last night and the relief & delight of the crew is obvious, particularly the room stewardesses who have such a physically demanding job.
It’s also nice to see all their faces.

I doubt it’s about loving masks. People wearing them obviously think they’re doing SOME good either for themselves or in protecting others.
It’s not really that hard to understand especially if you’re “genuinely curious”
You’re making out you’ve never heard any arguments for mask wearing. You’re either not listening or got zero ability to empathise with others.
On a production today, no previous day PCR test and no LFT test on the day, which is a first since May 2021.
Also no 'covid police' and no compulsary mask-wearing.
Watched three middle aged women chatting round a table this morning and were joined by a Japanese woman one of them knows who is wearing a mask. One woman then puts on a mask for the duration of their two minute conversation. A conversation about their flu and covid jabs.
Human nature/covid behaviour does seem odd when you watch it from outside.

I was in hospital on Monday for a short period for an ultrasound scan.
First time I've been to a hospital I'd guess since before covid kicked off, I'm not a frequent visitor at all.
All the staff had masks on in the hospital but none seemed at all bothered I wasn't wearing one, wasn't mentioned to me.
Is this normal now for hospitals? I've been to see my GP a couple of times recently and they didn't have masks on.
Before summer no, it was not normal, since the kids went back I think many hospitals held off and now were behind the curve with staff wearing them. I would say, voluntary visitor compliance coming into the hospital I was in this week is over 90% but the staff compliance level was nearer 95+%.First time I've been to a hospital I'd guess since before covid kicked off, I'm not a frequent visitor at all.

I guess no one explained to them that it was 'no biggie'. It’s also nice to see all their faces.
This ending a ruling at a set time always amuses me. At the point where management decided they no longer needed to force masks onto everyone, why not just say 'okay, you don't need to bother with the theatrics anymore guys'. What did they think was going to happen at 11:55pm but not happen once the clock struck midnight?
I'm reminded of Nadhim Zahowi when they were pointlessly forcing masks on kids in school and he was unable to justify it when interviewed on TalkRadio. He claimed that a study was about to be published that proved masks were of benefit, and that 'children will not be made to wear masks a day longer than necessary!' Two days later the study was published and the conclusion was that there was no evidence to support the theory that masks helped reduce transmission. But they made kids wear them for another fortnight anyway...
Utterly insane, the theatre that went on (and is still going on in some places) regarding making people wear masks.

Amazing it's taking this long. I still cringe when watching documentaries on TV and the cast and public are sans mask, but the crew are! It's just fking bonkers! Also no 'covid police' and no compulsary mask-wearing.

Similarly, that's great news for the cruise industry as well. Again , pointless virtue signalling that felt like it'd never bloody end!
Popped to the local to work Sainsburys after work earlier, upon leaving I walked past the in store Supercuts, I noticed behind the prominent reception/till area a masked member of staff and then a prominent sign stating, due to the rise in Covid infections, please wear a mask, sure enough all members of staff were in masks too.
No other concessions had such a sign and no such signage for the main store.

They say everyone needs a hobby but you masks obsessives really are a bit weird. At least CCD likes to learn new words and now amusingly squawks “sea-lion” in every post.

The one “I’m really interested in” is you showing me where I’ve said I “love the masks”. Looks like you’ve just invented another thing to stamp your feet about.

Always amusing to pop back into this thread and see the anti-mask brigade frothing, the mask-wearers frothing back, and a thousand people who refuse to understand why a mask might just make some a little more comfortable.
Want to wear one? Great! You should be able to do so without criticism.
Don’t want to wear one? Also great! Crack on, but try to avoid telling everyone why, just keep it to yourself.
If only life was that simple
