Neil Young might not be as well known globally but Joni Mitchell?
Cant say Ive ever heard of either of them.
Who are they?
What are they supposed to have done that makes them so great and worthy of listening to?

Had to Google them both, before my time.

Yeah, you show them! "Siri, who are Neil Young & Joni Mitchell?" That's reality, the majority don't care about these washed up musicians throwing their teddies out.

I have to be honest, I could only remember Big Yellow Taxi off the top of my head.
It's pretty sad people who question things get so virelently shot down by people who are presumably intelligent enough to know better. Very strange. I guess any publicity is good publicity when you've fallen by the wayside somewhat over the years.

Unless you are old enough to remember big yellow taxi I doubt anybody could name one of her songs.

Big yellow taxi is the only song that I know of hers, and I bet most people can't name any others.

Anyone under 60: “who’s Neil Young?”
Anyone over 60: “what’s Spotify?”

A LITERATURE REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF LOCKDOWNS ON COVID-19 MORTALITY

article said:
This systematic review and meta-analysis are designed to determine whether there is empirical evidence to support the belief that “lockdowns” reduce COVID-19 mortality. Lockdowns are defined as the imposition of at least one compulsory, non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI). NPIs are any government mandate that directly restrict peoples’ possibilities, such as policies that limit internal movement, close schools and businesses, and ban international travel. This study employed a systematic search and screening procedure in which 18,590 studies are identified that could potentially address the belief posed. After three levels of screening, 34 studies ultimately qualified. Of those 34 eligible studies, 24 qualified for inclusion in the meta-analysis. They were separated into three groups: lockdown stringency index studies, shelter-in-placeorder (SIPO) studies, and specific NPI studies. An analysis of each of these three groups support the conclusion that lockdowns have had little to no effect on COVID-19 mortality. More specifically, stringency index studies find that lockdowns in Europe and the United States only reduced COVID-19 mortality by 0.2% on average. SIPOs were also ineffective, only reducing COVID-19 mortality by 2.9% on average. Specific NPI studies also find no broad-based evidence of noticeable effects on COVID-19 mortality. While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted. In consequence, lockdown policies are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.
Stuff like this will continue to be studied and analysed, and as we know already - will continue to show lockdowns did very little!!

Eventually, the government/SAGE will have to concede it was bad policy and they weren't following the science, but simply making it up as they went along!

BBC reporting on the way that the ONS data on co-morbidities has been misused (including disappointingly by Dr John Campbell)

Covid: Posts claiming only 17,000 died of virus 'factually incorrect'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/60145237.amp
Indeed, as some of us non critical thinkers have already pointed out.

The 0.03% IFR is equally misrepresented.
The specific question asked of the ONS was “Please can you advise on deaths purely from covid with no other underlying causes.”

Their answer was:

ONS said:
Please see below for death registrations for 2020 and 2021 (provisional) that were due to COVID-19 and were recorded without any pre-existing conditions, England and Wales.

2020: 9400 (0-64: 1549 / 65 and over: 7851)

2021 Q1: 6483 (0-64: 1560/ 65 and over: 4923)

2021 Q2: 346 (0-64: 153/ 65 and over: 193)

2021 Q3: 1142 (0-64: 512/ 65 and over: 630)
The BBC ‘fact check’ piece is a muddle of misunderstanding. Claiming that those referenced have used this data out of context, whilst simultaneously taking the remarks they are objecting to out of context.

On your second point, the Case Fatality Rate fell to 0.15% or 15 deaths per 10,000 cases at the peak of the omicron wave. UKHSA have suggested we are picking up around 40% of cases. So this would suggest an Infection Fatality rate of 15 per 25,000 or 0.06%

I listened to Neil Young and Joni Mitchell on Spotify last weekend.

“Both Sides Now” for Joni Mitchell and, ironically, “The Needle and the Damage Done” for Neil Young

Neil Young said:
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.
The biggest irony is that their intervention has encouraged me to listen to Joe Rogan

Just showing I listen to a broader range of music than some and understand how influencial people like Joni Mitchell have been on current popular music across a wide range of genres.

I develop a knowledge of things rather than making random, ill informed comment... bit like covid.

No it doesn’t. Because the CFR and IFR are not constant.

I said in my post that they have fallen. This is because we have vaccines and better treatments, so the severity of disease resulting from this virus has been massively reduced.

You can check what I am saying with the same sort of quick maths used in your response. 200k cases a day would be 500,000 infections

Deaths from those infections would be 0.06% x 500,000.

So you would expect around 300 deaths per day 2 weeks later.

Absolutely, although leaving Spotify and joining Apple for ethical reasons is quite the flex. Almost as amusing as pulling your music from Spotify then pushing Amazon Music...
