Several couples with full face masks on said you can’t use the express checkout, I said why? Because you don’t have a mask on they said .
I was blown away and said sorry I’m using this express checkout anyway, the look of horror and disgust on their face was amazing.

It's definitely their business to make up rules too.
Only right to address the counter argument, too.

There was no shortage of people who were ready to make the it their business when I didn't wear a mask a couple of years ago. It's definitely your business too.

I find it utterly bizarre that people mask up to go shopping, particularly the cloth 'fashion' items that surely even the most stupid can see don't do anything. Sometimes I find myself shaking my head or biting my tongue to avoid uncontrollable laughter, but I stop short of hassling them or asking why they're doing it - that would be very weird.

It's the ones that wear them outside that get me, FFS you are out in the open air, also the ones that are in their car, by themselves, even more totally bizarre.I am not sure where people live to see all these masks. I saw one guy in Tesco today (Surrey/Hants border) with a mask on and it must be about a month since I last saw anybody wearing one.
I wonder if there is perhaps a case of being somewhat economical with the actualité in these "face nappy" sightings in the wild?
Or maybe some people do live in Royston Vasey.
I think most normal people don't care too much - it all seems a long time ago now.

Have you "moved on" Limpsfield? You and all the coincidence theorists in the other thread whom all have allegedly "moved on" from the Covaids seem to spend an awful lot of time reading this thread and pasting the content there. Extremely odd behaviour from people who claim to have long since forgotten about the Covaids and have moved on with their lives.I wonder if there is perhaps a case of being somewhat economical with the actualité in these "face nappy" sightings in the wild?

You seem to have ignored the point I posted earlier that it was the couple who asked me first why I wasn’t wearing a mask! It's definitely your business too.

I think it was the fact that such a high percentage of them were wearing masks, it shocked me that much, like I had missed a recent government news flash or something along those lines.
That’s why I questioned the old couple at the express checkout as to why specifically they were both wearing a mask.
I didn’t take any pictures, I was already kicking myself for leaving my phone in the cradle in the car, as it has my nectar card in the apple wallet, is it just me that finds it a pain to take your phone everywhere for loyalty cards now, I guess it’s because I’m an old fart that I really prefer a good old fashioned card!
I must have a check to see if it was actually pension day and they were all out shopping after collecting their pension cash.
The big sainsburys I am referring too is of course the one on the Stratford road in Shirley, Solihull.
It happens to be now dead centre in the middle of multiple large developments of retirement complex’s that are all along the Stratford road now, I’m assuming that it’s a short walk for most of them to shop there as it’s nice and local.
We joke that Shirley is now more like Gods waiting room due to how many new retirement developments it contains.
Loyalty cards are a bit of a taboo subject around these parts. That’s why I questioned the old couple at the express checkout as to why specifically they were both wearing a mask.

My post was a genuine observation about individuals at my local supermarket wearing masks when I could not understand why they would be doing so.
As I said earlier it was the old couple ( that’s unfair by the way as they were probably only 10 years older than me!) that asked me why I was not wearing a mask that prompted my post here.
It was just what I observed on a normal day going to one of my regular local supermarkets for a quick shop.
And now for some reason I’m branded a CT Freak, which I don’t really understand, it really was just me going to do some shopping and noticed that a lot of the other people in the store had masks on, which i found a bit bizarre?
Still clearly now I’m a total CT freak?
As I said this place gets weirder by the day.

Sky News article: The UK actually fared much better after COVID than first thought - here's why it matters
So we have an enquiry that appears to be strongly tilting towards support for 'harder, faster, longer' restrictions, and now it is claimed that 'the damage was nowhere near as bad as we thought/said'.A cynic might wonder if some kind of 'narrative' is being set up that would enable a repeat of the whole response in the future 'because it's no biggie'.
