The way I see it, something has to change in their approach or all that’s going to happen is the death toll increases until the Russian lemmings stop following each other into the end of an NLAW.

The Ukrainians have proved themselves, so the west is no longer worried about them being overrun and Russia clearing up its kit, so stacks more is flooding in, morale is as high as it gets. They haven’t even managed to overrun the cities, where it really gets difficult.

The longer the Russians take to find a different approach the more the money burns and the word spreads within Russia.
yes

Some chap on the radio was suggesting if the Ukrainians can hold out for another five days the Russians will run out of supplies and fuel because their logisitcs is failing.

Eventually they will surely get air superiority though? Or will western MANPADs coming in stay a threat?
Depends how prolonged it gets. The EU just provided something like 55 MiG-29s and 15 Su-25 ground attack aircraft from member state reserves. If this carries on for months and years, we could be supplying modern Western combat aircraft, pilot training and the like.
I saw this about us supplying fighter jets -- anyone know how this works do we fly them into Ukraine and risk an EU pilot getting shot down or do we drop them off at the border or do we expect the Ukrainians to collect from a local Polish base or something?

Can somebody please repost a link to the Reddit Ukraine news thread (the one with only news links, not the comment threads).

Had it before, now I can't find it.

So Russia has the GDP of Italy and a hugely corrupt system siphoning off billions, yet apparently they have a massive and well equipped military?
A military they have decided to use with one hand behind their back? Why?
Their military isn’t that good it turns out. Lots of old kit. Putin is lucky he has the nukes or we probably would be half way to Moscow by now.
Not a chance mate. Haven't you heard? All the roads to Moscow are chocca with clapped out old trucks. Hundreds of Kilometers of them! We would never get through.

I think he's made a number of balls ups to date so far & the Ukrainians are fighting like he didn't expect.

I think however it's a waiting game now of how long til he gets the bulk of his forces within striking distance of the capital.

Then the supply chain catches up. Look at what he did to Grozny. Surround Kiev then open up with the really big guns. I suspect it'll be indiscriminate, and horrifying to us watching on.

The BBC reckons that to date Ukraine has only been hit with 56 rockets & 113 cruise missiles. For comparison the US & Allies launched 1700 air sorties as part of shock and awe on Iraq including around 504 cruise missile strikes at a minimum.

Not suggesting Vlad has the same resource available but I think once he gets into position the Ukrainians are in for a pretty horrendous ride.
Makes a bit of a mockery of his "Peace Keeping" mission....

I am getting an increasingly gut wrenching feeling about this too. Putin is not interested negotiation, he wants control of Ukrainian, at the very least the Eastern half of the country including Kyiv. There was thought early that the massive convoy may be being spared from attack for propaganda reasons. I hope that it is not left too late

USA has a once in a lifetime chance to change Russia forever. They have EU on side, China is staying out. Letting Russia make a deal with Ukraine will just mean business as usual. Putin may be weakened/lose power but the replacement will likely be more of the same.

I would suggest it is in the interest of the USA to keep these sanctions that are being applied on for a long period and seek to remove the 'russia problem' permanently.
It pains me to think that putin will come out of this with anything other than complete personal humiliation but..
the sanctions are so wide and deep that to continue to keep them in place for a long time will be extremely painful for all of us in the west. This could become very nasty indeed for a huge number of people frown It may come down to who blinks first, and putin has the 'advantage' that he can/will pretty much ignore the plight of his own people.

Does the west have capacity to supply the necessary arms in the short term?

They probably need many thousands more anti tank weapons.
How quickly can they be manufactured?

The Ukrainians could probably arm a million people with guns.
But are there enough guns to go around?

Arm enough people and i can't see Russia winning.
But is that possble?

Haven’t seen many Ukrainian drone videos posted today. Nor much from their President.

Hope things haven’t turned for the worst.

I'd hazard a guess the US and UK are advising/helping them with logistics.

On the other hand Ukraine is not Chechnya, and Chechnya didn't have the help Ukraine is getting.
