62k employees in Russia…
Slightly deviating but must be tricky from a legal perspective to do this.

I expect the franchisees will be licenced by the country franchise licence holder who in turn is licensed by McD head office. What provision in their contracts will just allow them to pull out because of the bad PR of continuing to operate in a territory just because of their government's actions?

Obviously this point is a total side issue but I expect these big corps must be weighing up the bad press against the numerous legal cases that could be heading their way.
The figures were posted before, but there are surprisingly few franchises in Russia and Ukraine - most are owned by the main company.

I wonder how many local “officials” are seeing their bribes drying up. Isn’t this where Pootin started giving permits etc for bribes from Russian Mafia.

Have they taken such a pasting that they are using civilian vehicles & trucks now ?

The Scooby Doo van is a UAZ 452. The red truck is a Kamaz. and the thing in front of the Niva is a GAZ 2975.
I'm off to DVLA Reg to see if those number plates are available.

Always the entrepreneur, me smile .
Just to clarify, the situation is moving a bit quick for me, we’ve busted the myth of the first three memes, but that possibly actually is Breaking Bad?

The majority of McDonalds in Russia aren't franchised as they are in the rest of the world. They are run by the McDonalds Corp itself. There are a handful of exceptions. Closing shop should be made easier by this fact.

I think all the Russians should be sacked off I’m afraid. Not paid to do nothing. We need them all to understand what THEIR country, THEIR military, THEIR leader is doing.

Where is anyone going to bring the legal cases? Russia?

Agree. The idea is they need to be unhappy about the war. Leave on full pay doesn't achieve that.

I think they know already, but they don't really have a choice.

How long before the Russians empty several million gallons of crude oil just off our coastline if we turn them away ? Not saying we shouldn't, but wouldnt put it past them.
The oil will sell for 10p on the pound to poor countries in Africa or North Korea who don't care; it will be smuggled and russia will make a lot less money from it.
Surely the Chinese will just buy it all at a reduced price

Is there the capacity to move it that direction?

Haven't they made it illegal to report anything negative?

I doubt anyone is going to stick their neck out on TV. Least of all the reporters.

There is a balancing act to play here, we are not at war with the Russian people or Russia, but Putin. Mix these up & you will lose.

Eh? Our strategy is to destroy the Russian economy. Putin's not going to be cold and hungry, the people are.

The people are our only way to get at Putin, just as they would be if we joined the war with our military hardware and people.

Sucks, but nobody's suggested a better plan.
