So you've given up on positive facts or any truths and moved to sarcasm in your defence of your beloved?

Come on, defend that Musk outed himself as a 'Jan 6 truther' today, those that claim the attack on the Capitol by trumps maga insurrectionist mob was actually a hoax perpetrated by federal law enforcement.

Or that Halli, an award winning disabled designer with muscular dystrophy whose company was acquired by Twitter, was fired and then mocked by Musk, who then later deleted his tweet.

Did I mention he was Icelands person of the year?

He’s got a company of 34 people, that’s a hugely different way of working compared to a company of thousands. It’s simply not possible to be fast and agile in the same way. That’s why some big companies have small subsidiaries to do certain types of work quickly.
He also wrote Ruby on Rails which was used to build Twitter (as well as most of the web apps you use daily) so I would say he knows what he's talking about biggrin

And yes I know Twitter isn't running on Rails any more, and yes I know things move on, and yes I know you're probably a better developer than DHH and you're probably a better businessman than Elon Musk...but the point remains the same. Elon is doing something difficult and is doing it his way because it's his company. And while you lot may think you know better than him what to do with his company, it really doesn't make a blind bit of difference because you're not doing anything about it biggrin
You're right we can't do anything about it, but we can point and laugh as Elno sets fire to his reputation and money simultaneously.

At this point, the only logical explanation for his behaviour is that he's being directed by the KSA to use twitter disinformation to put a compromised president in the whitehouse at the next election, but that's crazy. Isn't it?

I don't really care what Elon Musk thinks about things to be honest, even though he shares a lot. I don't care what Tim Cook thinks about sports even if he has suddenly started tweeting random sports updates in an attempt to appear like his account is actually run by a human being and not just a PR afterthought.

I don't care who has been sacked from Twitter. I don't care who has been sacked from Apple. I don't care about that stuff because I don't know the details and I can't know the details. I can only know what I see on Twitter and I know enough about Twitter not to trust it.

But you care so little you keep on posting, hehe Also given your massive lack of company success and your lack of coding skills I'm not sure why you feel qualified to comment either?

I care so little that I feel like I have to defend an a-hole billionaire.

Thorleifsson is running rings around Musk though, it's quite a sight to see.

Few highlights - "I see my two kids every day, I highly recommend it" - brutal given Musk's daughter has disowned him and his wife left him.

"We grew fast and made money. I think that's what you are referring to when you say independently wealthy?

That I independently made my money, as opposed to say, inherited an emerald mine."

Elon is outmatched here and also (as usual) making bad choices, tweeting private medical information about a person he's just fired, publicly abused on twitter, and not paid severance owed.
Elon truly is a total bellend.

Agreed.

Watching Elons career is a bit like watching an underdog on an incredible run in the FA Cup. Achieving results way beyond expectations and it becomes a compelling story.

Like all romantic tales though, it will all end in tears eventually, as the lack of quality eventually catches up on you.

One funny rumour kicking around is that by sacking the guy Elon has to immediately pay up the balance of the money due (rather than it running as salary) and it might be a substantial lump.

Whoops.

I have just noticed that guy is in Iceland. I do hope he is employed there rather than the US, as they do have an office there. If that’s the case there may be a whole load of further pain coming twitters way.

Yup - that seems to be the case. The guy involved has MS and wanted to pay higher taxes because of what the Icelandic system has done for him. As a result, took the salary package option rather than the lump sum. Of course, this was backed up by a contract and Twitter just breached this. Seems that the firing of an employee (who was supposed to be on the 'no fire list') via Tweets might not be the best course of action after all. Could that have been the most expensive couple of tweets between individuals? Dont know, but the Icelandic guy has just joined the queue with everyone else for the cash payout.

https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/elon-musk-halli...

And its not just fired employees that Musk has a problem with - seems the Bot problem was and still is a major issue:

https://gizmodo.com/twitter-bots-trump-desantis-ma...

Didnt he say that he would fix this? And didnt he say that he was going to fix the hate speech stuff too? Oh wait, no he hasnt.

Its all 4d chess - its all going so well.

Elon has apologised & possibly rehired the guy - either someone had a serious word in his ear or there was a major expense rushing towards him.

Old tweets still up but the latest ones are pretty grovelling.

Both.

Elon doesn’t apologise unless he is on the hook for some serious money. This guy probably had a pretty unambiguous and watertight contract that was breached by firing him, not least of which a bunch of prima facie discrimination stuff.

Kinda lame that it’s probably going to fizzle out to nothing, would’ve been funny to see him have the defend yet another tweet storm In court.

Agreed.

But this is another example of the knee-jerk reactions of a thin-skinned narcissist. Even the dumbest person in the room would realize that there was a problem and it needed to be fixed. As a CEO, hand it off to someone who can do something and its job done. Pass it to HR or one of your exec team or something like that. But no, the smartest person in the room decides to take it on himself and “deal with it”. Without the context, understanding and judging by his groveling responses - clearly listening to the wrong people - did all of the worst things.

Again, and it’s getting boring now - but it’s all 4d chess and he knows what he is doing. He’s the genius that can do no wrong and knows more than everyone else.

quite a turnaround from publicly defaming him

As was said, he rang rings around Musk - this is well worth the read on all his responses to Musk
" I independently made my money, as opposed to say, inherited an emerald mine."

Translation: Based on yet another conversation with my attorneys..... and While it is true that I fired the employee because they have muscular dystrophy, I merely assumed he didn’t do work because of his disability but it turns out it didn’t meaningfully affect his output or work quality

Theres reports that Halli who Elon publicly ridiculed for asking about the status of his employment sold his company to Twitter for approximately $100 million, and the deal was structured in a way which requires payment for the entire deal upon his termination.

Which has led to Tesla stocks dropping again as people assumed he was going to have to pay out another $100m...

This 4d chess is confusing

This has been a great thing to witness. Poetic.

Elon has exposed himself as being clueless and in a bubble of his own making.

Then (again) exposes himself as a bully, except that even more than the cave diver, the guy he's picking on turns out to be almost his saintly antithesis.

And he's such an active dhead. Other company owners would have just forwarded it to an HR bod or lackey to look into.

I'm just catching up on this having been quite busy the past couple of days. This defence/takedown is just brutal. laugh

It’s just such a perfect example of a none apology too. I’m sure someone will be along to defend him shortly though.

Here’s his wiki page - he’s an impressive and respected guy:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haraldur_Ingi_%C3%...

And the company he founded and sold to twitter:
https://ueno.co/about/

Musk’s public trolling of him has to be one of his most clumsy insensitive actions so far - what a clown.
