Roe v Wade Being Repealed

I would never have imagined Ireland becoming a liberal democracy and the US turning so far backwards. There are more disruptions to cone as the US turns inwards and heads for isolationism.
As someone who has a lot of friends in the US and spends a couple of months a year out there on average (I've visited 30-something states), I think it's always helpful to step back and remind myself of why America exists.Basically, a bunch of religious nutters (the Puritans) legged it across the Atlantic because they weren't confident that they wouldn't be persecuted for being super-conservative, controlling religious nutters at home. They then committed a genocide of the indigenous people, decided that it was appropriate for them to own people from Africa, and then swept it all under the carpet, using Hollywood (in the 20th century) as the sort of PR machine that the Third Reich would be proud of.
With that context, it's hardly surprising that they occasionally pass laws that wouldn't seem out of place in middle-eastern dictatorships.

To be fair, this is a decent explanation of the current mess. Add in the bit that the US isn't really a country but a collection of 50 smaller ones, and it all makes more sense.Basically, a bunch of religious nutters (the Puritans) legged it across the Atlantic because they weren't confident that they wouldn't be persecuted for being super-conservative, controlling religious nutters at home. "because my religion says so" isn't a good argument for head gear, let alone reproductive rights.
I'm a bit angry but ultimately, they are an 'educated' country, so leave them to it. I would visit for holiday but I would definitely never move there now. The last 5+ years have showed how backwards a lot of it is.

I think the law was fine as it was and there are bigger fish to be frying.
I also feel this move is a consequence of the democrats in washington trying to include federal abortion funding into almost every big bill that traverses the house.
Reps: let's build some bridges and airports
Dems: we will agree if you agree to include abortion funding (or some sort of other Wade Rowe related topic).
With Wade Rowe out of the picture, in theory it removes the ability for the Dems to keep pulling the federal abortion funding card out like some sort of joker in the pack.

The Ten Commandments are pretty much just harmonious-human-community-centric.
The god bit was just there to enforce it.
Religion is fiction.
