Seen two cars in recent weeks with a red mirrored windscreen - both in the badlands of County Durham (both BMWs as it happens). Anyone seen similar in their locality?

Yep, they seem to be all over the place around this way don't they?
One of the BMW's orange by any chance was it?

First one was a black e90. Todays was a red (possibly orange) 1 series.

Yip, I saw an orange one tonight so it's reached the sticks as well (Scottish Borders)

It looked properly rubbish but then I'm old...

They remind me of cheap sunglasses that you’d buy from the garage in the 90s.

Usually seen on spazzed up old Beemers and Vauxhalls alongside other equally tasteful mods.

Most are legal that I’ve seen and allow the 70% (75%?) of light pass.

Early 2000s Renault Lagunas had a factory tint with this look.

I thought it was completely illegal to add any tint to a windscreen, surprised to look up that 75% is ok

The messed up thing is that these chameleon tints aren’t just slightly darker. I shared this photo of a bmw 7 series previously.

I think the colour difference would drive me mad

Most glass is already at 70% so the additional film would take the combination below 70%.

Another checkbox to add to 'the list':

Sick German whip
4D plates
Charmeleon windscreen

I’m also surprised they are legal - mirror the side windows too and police have no chance of spotting people holding a mobile phone etc. Also means no chance of using a front facing speed camera photo to confirm the driver identity.

Indeed, the early warning aka throbber list grows.

What’s worse though, 4D plates or tinted plates? 🤪

Ah, glad it’s not just me. I’d add mis-spaced number plates to that chav throbber list.

Don’t forget the “M” coloured plastic grills usually found on non M cars.

Of all the things, those annoy me the least.

Adjusted spacing may make a difference in identifying a car
Increased/odd tinting may increase various risks

A front grille - meh.
